What you will do:  

Electra is seeking an experienced Manager II, Mechanical to lead the mechanical maintenance team at our new clean‑iron demonstration plant. This role supports commissioning and startup activities and ensures the reliability, safety, and efficiency of mechanical equipment and plant infrastructure. 

The Manager II oversees daily mechanical operations in alignment with established processes, directs and develops maintenance personnel, and contributes to meeting monthly performance and cost targets. This leader applies strong technical expertise, drives preventative and predictive maintenance programs, and collaborates across functions to resolve issues and support consistent plant performance. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage the local mechanical maintenance team, including technicians and contractors, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Develop, implement, and maintain preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for all plant equipment and systems
  • Monitor plant performance and equipment reliability, analyzing maintenance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Collaborate with Corporate Maintenance, Operations and Engineering teams to plan and execute maintenance projects, shutdowns, and upgrades
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards 
  • Manage maintenance budgets, including labor, materials, and contractor costs, optimizing resource allocation 
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including implementation of digital tools for maintenance tracking & reporting, and RCFA methodologies
  • Provide hands-on coaching and develop maintenance personnel, ensuring the team has the skills and training to meet operational needs

What we need you to bring to the team:    

  • 3+ years of progressive maintenance experience in heavy industry, metals, or mineral processing environment
  • 1+ year of supervisory experience with direct responsibility for performance management and team leadership
  • Strong working knowledge of industrial equipment, mechanical systems, and control systems
  • Hands-on experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs, CMMS platforms, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams, manage budgets, and execute maintenance initiatives on schedule
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with effective communication skills
  • A clear commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and execution-focused

 

What we want you to bring to the team: 

  • Mechanical Maintenance certification
  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship program
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • 5+ years of progressive maintenance experience in heavy industry, metals, or mineral processing
  • Prior experience supporting or commissioning a start-up or new facility launch

Compensation:   

  • The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $110,000-$135,000 and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
