Perfect Day was founded in 2014 to create delicious, nutritious dairy products that everyone can love. We’re using fermentation (not animals) to make dairy proteins that are the foundation for foods like ice cream, cheese and yogurt – all with the distinctive taste and textures that consumers demand, but without lactose or environmental downsides. Through partnerships with respected brands, we’re working to launch a whole range of dairy products that will help shape a humane, sustainable food system for future generations. 

Associate Director – Fermentation

Fermentation Process Department (Upstream)

Requires a PhD in a scientific discipline or equivalent in engineering with a minimum of 5-7 years of related experience; Expert knowledge of scientific principles and concepts.

Responsible for initiating and executing scientific research activities in the lab

1.       Designs study plans and outlines the experimental structure. Investigates the feasibility of applying

a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions, products, and problems

plans and executes laboratory research if required

2.       Investigates, creates and develops new methods and technologies for project advancement. 

3.       Performs research and/or development in collaboration with others for projects. 

4.       Preparing and validating the process protocol for the prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems (E. coli,

 Bacillus sp. and Fungal sp.).

5.       Identify, esign, implement and manage experimental development programmes needed to develop,

evaluate and characterize new processes for target molecules.

6.       Makes detailed observations, executes, analyzes data and interprets results. 

7.       Mentoring Interns & Scientists (I&II)

8.       Analyse and troubleshoot scientific issues in a timely manner.

9.       Write the research proposals, conduct research and evaluate the outcome.

10.   Coordinate and plan production priorities, workflow and schedule.

11.   Supporting the pilot scale execution of research work carried at the R&D facility.

12.   Monitoring and compilation of the batch run and report to the assigning authority.

13.   Maintain environmental awareness and follow hygiene and environmental procedures.

14.   To co-ordinate work with other functions / departments to achieve project objectives

15.   Maintains high level of professional expertise through familiarity with scientific literature. 

16.   May participate in scientific conferences and contribute to scientific journals. 

17.   May act as principal investigator in conducting own experiments.  

1.       Mentor junior subordinates on research techniques and professional development.

2.       Develop productive working relationships with other members of staff.

3.       Expertise in developing protocols, reports and SOP’s.

4.       Ensure proper documentation of research conducted in the lab.

Demonstrates potential for technical proficiency and scientific creativity.  Works on problems of moderate scope in which analysis of situation or data requires a review of identifiable factors.  Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.

1.       Should have good communications skills.

2.       Should be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

3.       Should have experience in analysing and documenting scientific data.
