Being an Office Manager at Octopus Energy is an incredibly rewarding role where no day is the same and your responsibilities will change as the business grows. You will be at the forefront of helping promote and embed our Octopus culture and a home from home environment where team mates look forward to coming into the workplace and the things it has to offer. You will be the friendly face to greet visitors and stakeholders giving them a warm Octopus welcome, championing our mission and brand at all times.

Location: Manchester. (Also, the occasional need to work in any of our other offices)
Position: Full Time (some weekend requirements from time to time)

What you'll do

  • Creating and continuing to foster a positive workplace environment where all colleagues feel valued, encouraged and supported
  • Being an ambassador for all things Octopus Culture. This includes being a role model whilst in the office, out on visits and a friendly and helpful face for all, whether in person or over Slack!
  • Building positive relationships internally across all our sites and with other businesses and outside contractors
  • Portraying a positive presence in the wider community- championing our mission and brand at all times
  • Looking after Octopus Energy’s hardworking Energy Specialist’s physical and mental wellbeing in the office.
  • Collaborating with office managers from our other offices to ensure processes are coherent across all sites
  • Maintaining the smooth running of an office environment along with monitoring all things H&S
  • Taking the lead on projects given to you, bringing in new ideas and collaborating with others internally or externally
  • Organising activities such as office yoga and contributing to the various things we celebrate across the company such as black history month, LBGTQ+ awareness and mental health week
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement: for example in day-to-day processes, or indeed in any way that you think would improve your performance
  • Ensuring onboarding and off-boarding of employees takes place in a timely and efficient way 
  • Responsible for the managing food requirements for the office, this ranges from adhoc food requests, events and daily food items in the office.
  • Assisting and supporting the office with accommodation and travel bookings
  • What you'll need

  • We need somebody who is a go-to person for colleagues to come to with queries and trust it will get sorted - it can be anything from tech issues to ideas for an act of kindness for a customer.
  • We are looking for someone who takes ownership, can communicate well, and genuinely cares about their colleagues, their wellbeing and is passionate about Octopus and our mission.
  • You will be the beacon that creates and fosters the inclusive community feel in the office and offers compassion and support to staff on all levels, so we are looking for somebody who is naturally caring and sympathetic to others and has the skills to influence and motivate their team mates, inspiring them to be the best version of themselves
