Position Overview

As a Mechanical Engineer specializing in the design and implementation of both research and development equipment as well as volume production equipment using CAD/SolidWorks, you will be crucial in our team's mission to develop and deliver state-of-the-art reactor and absorption systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, model, and analyze equipment components and systems, ensuring their safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that significantly impact the energy and industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with engineers and scientists to conceptualize, design, and optimize research and development and volume production systems for various applications, ensuring they meet performance and safety requirements.
  2. Utilize CAD and SolidWorks software to create detailed 3D models, simulations, and engineering drawings of reactor components and systems.
  3. Conduct structural and thermal analysis, fluid dynamics simulations, and stress testing to validate and optimize equipment designs, as required.
  4. Identify and select appropriate materials for equipment components based on performance, cost, and environmental factors.
  5. Prepare detailed technical reports, specifications, and documentation for equipment designs, including BOMs (Bill of Materials) and life-cycle.
  6. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, process engineers, and project managers, to ensure successful project execution.
  7. Implement quality control measures to ensure the highest design and manufacturing standards in compliance with industry regulations.
  8. Troubleshoot and address engineering challenges during equipment project design and construction phases.
  9. Stay updated on industry trends and advancements, contributing to continuously improving reactor design processes and methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in equipment design and engineering.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, PowerPoint, MS Project, MS Word, and Excel 
  • Demonstrates exceptional leadership, communication, equipment product technology, project management, and teamwork skills. 
  • Ability and willingness to work in a high-paced environment, to keep to a schedule, and to do what it takes to be successful with aggressive timelines.  (Experience in start-up environments or new product development a plus). 
  • Ability and willingness to work hands-on. 
  • Experience and understanding of lean manufacturing, Project Data Management (PDM) for engineering lifecycle management, and associated release and documentation control. 
  • Knowledge of integration with control systems, including PLCs, is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license a plus, but not required.
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations.
  • Knowledge of nuclear or chemical reactor systems.
  • Project management skills.

 

Compensation and Benefits*

  • $125,000/yr-$140,000/yr
