About the company:

Dandelion is a home geothermal company offering affordable geothermal installations that provide heating, cooling and hot water to homes by exchanging heat with the ground beneath them. Dandelion became an independent company in Spring 2017, after getting started at X , "the innovation engine of Alphabet."

🌱 About Dandelion Energy

Dandelion Energy is transforming how homes are heated and cooled—starting from (below) the ground up. As the nation’s leading residential geothermal company, we design, install, and maintain all-in-one heating and cooling systems that are cleaner, quieter, and up to 4x more efficient than traditional HVAC, with a focus on large, scaled deployments to large homebuilders. We’re an ambitious (and growing) team on a mission to revolutionize home heating.

Backed by Google Ventures (GV) and other top tech investors, our end-to-end geothermal solution is breaking the status quo of residential heating and cooling technology, and we’re scaling rapidly to meet demand. Whether we’re serving national homebuilders or individual homeowners, our mission is the same: to make geothermal the default choice for heating and cooling in the U.S.

We are seeking a Master Mechanic to repair and maintain our fleet of heavy diesel equipment, including Atlas Copco air compressors (CAT engines), drill rigs (Deutz engines), and Bobcat excavators.

This role will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining our fleet to ensure peak operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, and diagnose faulty operations and parts across heavy diesel equipment.

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance inspections on all vehicles and machinery.

  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions in diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and other mechanical and electrical components.

  • Disassemble and reassemble heavy equipment and components as needed.

  • Perform regular maintenance checks, including fluid level inspections and part testing.

  • Interpret and work from technical manuals, diagnostic charts, and schematics.

  • Order necessary parts for repairs and maintenance activities.

  • Communicate with operators to diagnose problems and plan repair work.

  • Test repaired equipment to ensure full operational performance.

  • Input and maintain work orders, vehicle status updates, and completed repair logs in an online fleet management system (e.g., Fleetio, Samsara).

  • Use hydraulic jacks and hoists safely as part of repair operations.

  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.

  • Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Basic Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic.

  • Strong knowledge of Atlas Copco air compressors, CAT, John Deere, and Deutz diesel engines.

  • Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems related to heavy equipment and trucks.

  • Valid driver’s license in good standing, with the ability to operate a vehicle and eligibility to drive under the company’s insurance policy.

  • Ability to handle a variety of mechanical tools and operate heavy equipment safely.

  • Strong commitment to safety practices and accident prevention.

  • Excellent physical condition, with flexibility to work long shifts and travel to regional sites as needed.

  • Diploma from a trade school or relevant technical certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CDL A driver’s license.

  • Experience working with drilling rigs.

  • Experience using torches and welding equipment for repairs and fabrication.

  • Familiarity with technology tools (computers, laptops and iPads) and maintenance software platforms (e.g., Fleetio, Samsara).

Benefits/Perks:

  • Health/Dental/Vision insurance
  • 401k plan
  • Paid Sick and Vacation time (PTO)
  • 40-hour workweek, overtime available
