We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as the Manager of Platform Engineering, with a specific focus on data-related topics. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to combine your expertise in data engineering and management with product owner responsibilities. You will be responsible for leading a team of platform engineers, driving data initiatives, and ensuring the successful delivery of our data platform products and solutions.

What does a Manager Platform Engineering do at Fluence?

Team Leadership and Management:

Build and lead a team of platform engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.

Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to team members, enabling their professional growth.

Define team goals, set performance expectations, and conduct regular performance evaluations.

Data Strategy and Initiatives:

Develop and execute the overall data strategy for the organization, in alignment with business objectives.

Identify and prioritize data-related initiatives that drive innovation, efficiency, and growth.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders, to define data requirements and ensure effective data governance.

Product Owner:

Serve as the product owner for an agile development team, collaborating closely with stakeholders to define product vision, goals, and roadmap.

Create and maintain the product backlog, ensuring that it reflects the strategic priorities and customer needs.

Collaborate with the development team to refine user stories, prioritize features, and plan sprint activities.

Technical Leadership:

Provide technical expertise and guidance in software engineering, data platform, and best practices.

Ensure the scalability, performance, and reliability of data platforms and systems.

Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering and product management, and apply relevant knowledge to drive continuous improvement.

Collaboration and Communication:

Foster effective communication and collaboration across teams, ensuring transparency and shared understanding of goals, progress, and challenges.

Work closely with stakeholders to understand their requirements, address concerns, and deliver solutions that meet their needs.

Present technical and strategic information to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior management.

What does the ideal candidate look like?

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced certifications in data engineering or product management are a plus.

Proven experience as a manager or team lead in platform engineering, with a strong focus on data-related topics.

In-depth knowledge of data engineering, data architecture, and data governance principles.

Experience as a product owner, working with cross-functional teams and driving product development in an iterative manner.

Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, continuous integration, and delivery practices.

Proficiency in programming languages such as Python.

Familiarity with data technologies and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, EdgeX, TimescaleDB).

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering practical and scalable solutions.
