As the Manager of Insights & Analytics, the key focus of this role is to analyze and translate point of sales data for a deeper understanding of drivers and trends within the category as well as key retail channels and accounts. This individual will work with cross-functional teams to generate compelling insights that will contribute to topline sales goals for the company. 

This position reports to the Director of Insights & Analytics and is required to be based onsite at our El Segundo HQ office full-time 5 days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Drive distribution, profitable sales, and category growth by translating shopper and POS data into actionable insights across key retail channels and major customer accounts.
  • Create best-in-class category insights, including a comprehensive overview of market and industry trends, competition, assortment, and category performance.
  • Support customer-specific category management initiatives (retail category vision, growth drivers, shopper journey, sell stories, etc.) through the analysis and translation of syndicated POS data (IRI, Nielsen) and consumer panel data (NCP, Numerator).
  • Strengthen partnerships with key retail customers and brokers by activating insights that will influence strategy, pricing, promotion, and merchandising recommendations.
  • Analyze syndicated POS data across key retail channels in preparation for customer meetings, category & line reviews, and collaborations with retail brokers.
  • Identify key business issues and opportunities through the interpretation of multiple data sources, including syndicated POS data, promotional activity, and trade ROI.
  • Develop business cases, create topline stories, and identify white spaces that can be leveraged to promote category expansion and distribution in retail.
  • Manage vendor support personnel as needed
  • Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 years in data & analytics roles, with category management and multi-channel CPG experience, plus proven track record of providing compelling insights that drive results.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau), including table design, data aggregation, data visualization, and pivot tables.
  • Strong data visualization skills, writing skills, and presentation skills, with the ability to synthesize data from multiple sources to answer business questions.
  • Experience partnering with internal stakeholders to develop solutions (e.g., pricing strategy, shopper marketing) that deliver category and brand growth.
  • Experience in pricing and promotional analysis, trade promotion ROI, and retail customer portals.
  • Proficiency in syndicated data analytics platforms, including but not limited to: purchase funnels, conversion rate optimization, market basket, leakage tree, switching, and void reports.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and thrive in a cross-functional environment.
  • A structured thinker capable of problem-solving with the ability to translate insights into meaningful narratives and stories.
  • A self-starter who is passionate about getting data, using data, making sense of data, and helping others benefit from making analytics-driven decisions.
