The Manager, Fire Protection Engineering & Emergency Management will have a highly hands-on approach to problem-solving. Rapid and concise communication is a critical piece to this role; a candidate that strives for excellence, challenges themselves, and seeks opportunities for individual development will be a valuable addition to the Lucid EHS team. This role, as part of our Global Center of Excellence (COE), will have a breadth of responsibility across this technical function supporting critical challenges faced across the global enterprise. Not only will this role be tasked in driving technical solutions in fire protection engineering for our growing business and developing associated standards, however, will also be crafting emergency response strategies and building a tactical response team to provide support across the business.
This position requires full-time onsite work in Casa Grande, AZ.

The Role
Ensure Fire Protection Systems are in compliance with all local & federal regulations and NFPA codes.Have working knowledge and the IBC, IFC, and NFPA standards including but not limited to NFPA 13, 16, 20, 25, 30, 33, 34, 72, 77, 101, 204, 220, 231C, 241, 497, 499, 651, 652. Research and apply fire protection codes to support project changes for sustained manufacturing, service, or R&D operations. Work with Engineering Design Contractors to review and advise on application of fire protection codes to support large major capital projects across the enterprise; assuring internal standards are adhered to. Communicate with jurisdictional officials for permitting inquiries, AHJ inspections/reviews, and support field walks as-needed. Develop building and fire code compliance documents and fire life safety designs for new production lines / materials and other facility changes.Perform hazardous material analysis for code compliances purposes, such as chemical classification, chemical quantity analysis, chemical inventory management, and related compliance system design support.Develop & create fire protection system criteria for new / changing processes and building infrastructure.Review and comment on drawing design packages developed by contractors.Develop AM&M (Alternate Means & Methods) to local AHJ to help with performance-based design criteria to meet intent of code.Support day-to-day EHS operations as required in technical problem solving.Review work instructions, equipment, and current work practices to identify the need for additional controls.Drive corrective action resolution with a hands-on and innovative approach to problem-solving.Partner in training sessions and information flow down sessions.Learn risk assessments processes, champion risk assessment activities, and drive improvement. (e.g., detailed engineering evaluations, project cost assessments, proposals to key decision-makers, etc.).Gather data for any assessments being conducted and present to senior EHS team members for review.Engage in and drive projects as key project champion of strategic EHS initiatives to support our customers across the organization.Drive resolution and collaboration around complex engineering challenges with an emphasis on first principles.Qualifications
10 + years of related experience with a Bachelors in EHS, Fire Protection Engineering, or required. Professional Engineering license in Fire Protection Engineering is preferred. 5+ years of Fire Protection for building design and construction. 3+ years of people management experience. Responsible for hiring, developing, and training a team of 2-4 team members.Basic understanding of general manufacturing EH&S processes, procedures, and requirements. Ability to work independently, use engineering judgement, and devise new approaches to solving problems. Must be able to lift, up to 50 lbs.Ability to stand and/or walk for 10+ hrs. daily and climb stairs.Travel, domestic and international up to 40%, may be required. Self-motivated with high energy to get results.
