About the company:

Apollo Agriculture is an agritech company that provides smallholder farmers in Africa with access to high-quality farming inputs, financing, insurance, and agronomic training. By bundling these services into an integrated offering delivered through a network of local agrodealers, the company enables small-scale farmers to significantly improve their yields and income. Apollo uses data science and satellite imagery to assess credit risk for farmers who lack formal credit histories, making financial services accessible to a population historically excluded from traditional banking and lending systems. The company operates primarily in Kenya and is expanding across sub-Saharan Africa. Apollo Agriculture's mission is rooted in sustainability and climate resilience. By improving access to certified seeds, fertilizers, and crop insurance, the company helps farming families build more stable and productive livelihoods while contributing to broader food security goals. The emphasis on climate adaptation, including supporting farmers in selecting inputs suited to changing weather patterns, positions Apollo as an active participant in the green and climate-focused technology sector. What makes Apollo Agriculture distinctive is its end-to-end approach to smallholder farmer empowerment. Rather than addressing a single pain point, the company tackles financing, inputs, insurance, and training simultaneously, reducing the barriers that typically prevent small-scale farmers from investing in their land. This holistic model, combined with technology-driven credit assessment and a last-mile distribution network of agrodealers, allows Apollo to reach and serve farmers in rural and remote areas at scale.

About Apollo:
Apollo Agriculture is a leading agri-fintech platform empowering small-scale farmers across Africa to increase their profits and farm more sustainably. Apollo uses artificial intelligence and automated operations to unlock the massive, untapped small-scale farming market. Apollo enables farmers to access the optimized financing, high-quality farm products, expert digital advice, and risk management solutions they need to invest and scale their businesses. Apollo grew paying customers over 2.5x in 2023 to over 200K small-scale farmers in Kenya and Zambia, increasing revenue to nearly $30M with robust unit economics. Apollo partners with key global agriculture companies like Bayer, OCP and Yara, and is backed by Anthemis, Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Flourish Ventures, Leaps by Bayer, and Softbank Vision Fund. Apollo’s team brings together technology, credit and operations experience from The Climate Corporation, Google, Capital One, Revolut, and One Acre Fund.
