Help us make a big green dent in the universe. We're on a mission to drive the global renewable energy revolution, and we need loads more people to help us make our vision a reality.

As part of the wider Octopus Energy group, Octopus Energy Generation (OEGEN) are one of Europe’s leading and most experienced specialist renewable energy and transition investors, investing since 2010. We are a fund manager, committed to best-in-class responsible investment activity, offering solutions to like-minded investors to invest their capital sustainably. We currently manage investments in energy generating assets valued in excess of £5 billion across 14 different countries.

Our mission is to change the entire energy lifecycle and make every green electron matter, delivering the best outcomes for customers, investors, the environment and society, accelerating the transition to net zero. Octopus Energy Generation is part of the Octopus Energy Group.

The role sits within the Octopus Energy Generation’s Funds Finance team, reporting directly into a Finance Manager. OEGEN Funds Finance are responsible for the financial reporting and analysis for an expanding portfolio of renewable assets that are owned by a number of Retail, Institutional and Listed Funds. These assets have a growing international presence across the UK, Europe and Australia.

While much of the day to day operations and accounting are outsourced at both the asset (SPV) level and fund level, this role will be responsible for the quality of the management accounts and financial information.

A high proportion of your time will therefore be managing the performance of the external accounting teams.

We strongly encourage applications from a variety of candidates - we believe that different experiences result in increased ideas, collaboration and success. The first stage of the process will include a run through of our company culture, as well as a conversation around what is important for you in your next role.

If this sounds like you then we'd love to hear from you.

Studies have shown that some groups of people, like women, are less likely to apply to a role unless they meet 100% of the job requirements. Whoever you are, if you like one of our jobs, we encourage you to apply as you might just be the candidate we hire. Across Octopus, we're looking for genuinely decent people who are honest and empathetic. Our people are our strongest asset and the unique skills and perspectives people bring to the team are the driving force of our success. As an equal opportunity employer, we do not discriminate on the basis of any protected attribute. Our commitment is to provide equal opportunities, an inclusive work environment, and fairness for everyone.

What you'll do

  • Supporting and improving information flows between teams, managing the quality of their outputs and establishing appropriate controls.
  • Review and challenge management accounts provided by external accountants.
  • Report on the financial performance of the operational portfolios at monthly Customer Board meetings.
  • Ensure financial information and commentary is accurately presented in Investor Reports.

  • Ad hoc reports and analysis as required. This is a wide-ranging role and will require the ability to manage a range of stakeholders and deliver to tight timelines.

  • What you'll need

  • Able to complete and review consolidations

  • Highly organised, able to plan ahead to deliver accurate information to tight reporting deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to work well with different teams and manage a range of different stakeholders
  • Self-motivated and aspirational, comfortable working in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Why else you'll love it here

  • Wondering what the salary for this role is? Just ask us! On a call with one of our recruiters it's something we always cover as we genuinely want to match your experience with the correct salary. The reason why we don't advertise is because we honestly have a degree of flexibility and would never want salary to be a reason why someone doesn't apply to Octopus - what's more important to us is finding the right octofit!
