OEGEN is a leader in sourcing, investing in, and managing a wide range of utility-scale renewable energy assets. Currently, we manage a global portfolio of over £7 billion in renewable energy assets, including more than three hundred large-scale energy-generating companies. Our operational portfolio includes wind farms, solar power plants, and upcoming projects in energy storage and hydrogen.

The Management Accountant position is a pivotal role within the Octopus Energy Generation’s Funds Finance team, reporting directly to a Senior Management Accountant/Finance Manager. OEGEN Funds Finance is responsible for the financial reporting and analysis of an expanding portfolio of renewable assets owned by various Retail, Institutional, and Listed Funds. These assets have a growing international presence across the UK, Europe, Australia, and Asia. The role involves building strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders across OEGEN and its wider business.

What you'll do

Review and challenge management accounts provided by external accountants.

Report on the financial performance of the operational portfolios at monthly Customer Board meetings.

Ensure financial information and commentary is accurately presented in Investor Reports.

Prepare distribution forecasts and manage all distribution payments up to the fund.

Address finance-related queries on portfolios, taking ownership of requests and issues, and providing appropriate solutions in a timely manner.

Work closely with OEGEN commercial asset managers to prepare budgets and monitor all costs against these budgets.

Assist the fund management team in quarterly valuations.

Project manage audits and review of statutory financial statements and corporation tax returns; liaising with external auditors as required.

Manage payment approvals as appropriate.

Ensure a robust control environment is present throughout the portfolio.

Generate ad hoc reports and analysis as required.

Build and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Identify system improvements and drive change across the team, working closely with external accountants to improve current processes across the portfolio.

What you'll need

Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA).

Highly organised, able to plan ahead to deliver accurate information to tight reporting deadlines.

Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to work well with different teams and manage a range of different stakeholders.

Self-motivated and aspirational, comfortable working in a fast-paced changing environment.

Good technical knowledge of UK GAAP.

Able to complete and review consolidations.

Experience working with renewable energy investment assets and an understanding of relevant subsidy schemes is preferable.

Good understanding of CIR and other basis tax rules would be an advantage.
