Who You Are
As a Supervisor in the R&D Operations group, you will organize and coordinate the work of Research Assistants and Technicians that facilitate the timely production and quality of new Sila materials. You are an attentive, diligent and curious leader who will improve and accelerate our path to demonstrate the next generation of battery materials. You are someone who takes ownership of your work and the results and needs of your team, strives for perfection and is passionate about understanding, setting, and achieving team goals and objectives.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Organize, schedule, support and improve the work of Research Assistants and Technicians performing operations on Line 1, our pilot line
- Help coordinate and translate into operational goals the objectives and priorities of the Sila R&D and material development functions
- Drive and support the implementation of lean manufacturing practices and the attachment to quality control procedures
- Manage inventory and maintain a tidy and effective work area
- Hire and train the best talent for all open positions in area of responsibility; utilize existing tools to track and provide visibility on training progress
- With reports, collaboratively develop goals, coordinate and track progress of plans, allocate roles and responsibilities, and navigate challenges and roadblocks
- Help reports understand how their role and contributions are important to the Company’s success and give and receive constructive feedback, and provide input to the organization on the report’s contributions - celebrate wins
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Attention to detail working with materials and equipment and ability to identify risks during the performance of such activities
- History of consistently completing and supporting others to complete tasks efficiently
- Extensive knowledge of laboratory or industrial equipment and basic computer operation
- Logical thought process and ability to share knowledge
- Like to engage others in teamwork while also capable of solving problems alone
- Ability to work a Monday-Friday schedule, with the flexibility to work shift hours and accommodate to occasional adjustments
- (Preferred) Experience leading teams in industrial or research environments
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Pass a respirator fit test and be able to wear respiratory protection on a daily basis
- Wear personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe safety shoes
- Reach low shelves or items on the floor
- Enter spaces narrower than 3 feet
- Precise and repetitive handling of a range of material quantities
The starting base pay for this role is between $103,000 and $130,000 at the time of posting. The actual base pay depends on many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. Base pay is only one part of Sila’s competitive Total Rewards package that can include benefits, perks, equity, and bonuses. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. #LI-Onsite
