What you will do:  

As a Laboratory Technician III, on the Process Development team, you will focus on lab experiments and testing. The role will be to support the analytical team with analysis of elemental components like carbon, sulfur, oxygen and nitrogen in solids and solutions to support our R&D and engineering teams. This is on on-site position in Boulder, CO.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform routine sample analysis in the turnaround time required
  • Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation and equipment
  • Perform routine chemical analysis using standardized methods and procedures
  • Summarize sample results clearly and concisely to other team members
  • Assist the analytical team with sample preparation and dilutions as needed
  • Perform general laboratory operations such as inventory, safety, clean-up, etc.
  • Read, understand, and comply with all workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices, and company policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

What we need you to bring to the team:   

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 5+ years of related experience in laboratory environments
  • Substantial understanding of laboratory chemistry principles including safe handling of strong acids and bases
  • Familiarity with UV/Vis spectroscopy instrumentation including maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Experience using balances and single-channel pipettes for accurate measurements
  • Knowledge of EPA ASTM or ISO methodologies and ability to apply them in routine testing
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Accountable for the quality and timeliness of own deliverables
  • Works on assignments that are moderately difficult guided by defined and documented processes
  • Adapts solutions to related problems and performs fact-finding to fully understand issues and determine appropriate responses
  • Scope of impact is typically at the department or team level with short-term implications
  • Normally receives little instruction on daily tasks and general guidance on new assignments
  • Applies knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of tasks independently
  • May be responsible for upskilling new team members and sharing technical knowledge
  • Conveys and exchanges basic technical information with colleagues clients or customers who are typically knowledgeable about the subject matter
  • Demonstrates professionalism and reliability in laboratory operations

What we want you to bring to the team:   

  • 7+ years of experience of lab experience with advanced instrumentation
  • Hands-on experience with ICP-OES, LC-MS/MS, XRD/XRF, and elemental analysis of C, S, O, N, H required.
  • Experience handling hazardous chemicals including HF, cyanide, and concentrated acids in ISO 17025 labs.
  • Prior experience developing and maintaining SOPs and training junior lab staff

Compensation:   

  • The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $29.00-$33.00 per hour and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
