About the role

In this role, you will support a variety of laboratory operations as part of a dynamic team to

maintain a safe and productive working environment. You will maintain a clean and organized

working area and assist in other team projects as needed in the following lab environments:

media preparation, tissue culture and molecular biology. You will also ensure materials are

properly received and stored per manufacturer instructions. This role is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts and reports to our Lab Operations Manager.

 

As a Lab Operations Assistant, you will

  • Maintain and identify needed lab inventory
  • Assist with day to day lab upkeep
  • Daily equipment calibration 
  • Receiving dry ice shipments 
  • Running the flask scrubbers
  • Daily stocking
  • Accept/track shipments of lab consumables and distribute to end user
  • Be available to aid various technicians during Preventative Maintenance Visits
  • Receive and follow specialized training for the proper disposal of biohazardous waste
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Using proper PPE
  • Filing safety reports as needed
  • Supporting others to follow safe practice
  • Be available throughout the day to assist Lab Operations Manager during troubleshooting
  • Be able to work through ambiguous situations and work through issues until they are resolved
  • Manage and perform media preparation 

● Assist in planting to support science platform activities

 

You Bring

  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Biology, Agriculture or related field
  • A strong ability to follow and help promote Standard Operating Procedures
  • A drive to be self-motivated and customer focused
  • The ability to make bold and well-informed decisions
  • Skills in lab organization with attention to detail
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs several times daily
