Sunnova Energy International was a residential solar and energy storage service provider headquartered in Houston, Texas. The company offered solar-as-a-service products including leases, loans, and power-purchase agreements, enabling homeowners across the United States and its territories to adopt clean energy without the burden of upfront costs. Sunnova's model focused on long-term service contracts that included system monitoring, maintenance, and customer support throughout the life of each installation. Sunnova positioned itself as a mission-driven company within the residential renewables sector, aiming to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and lower energy costs for American households. By combining distributed solar generation with battery storage solutions, the company sought to provide customers with greater energy resilience and independence from traditional utility grids, contributing to broader decarbonization goals. In 2025, Sunnova underwent a court-supervised Chapter 11 sale process through which new owners acquired substantially all of its assets and operations. SunStrong Management, a full-service asset manager specializing in residential solar portfolios, assumed responsibility for servicing in-service customer accounts, while GoodLeap was engaged to assist with certain in-progress installations. Sunnova has since ceased independent operations, with its customer base and infrastructure transitioning to the new ownership structure.
