Internship – Operational Suitability Data, Crew Training and Certification

An internship at Lilium is for those who want to do something extraordinary, yet with a meaningful purpose. We take pride in pushing the very boundaries of technology and customer experience to deliver something that has never been done before. 

Operational Suitability Data (OSD) covers information produced as part of the type design relating to training and qualification of staff as well as a compilation of the Master Minimum Equipment List (MMEL). The objective of OSD is to ensure that all information required by the crew to operate an aircraft is complete and covers all required aspects of the role.

The OSD team in the Airworthiness department will ensure the future operation of our aircraft and will lay the ground for training of pilots and maintenance personnel, amongst others. OSD includes the development of Flight Crew Data, Maintenance Certifying Staff Data, Simulation Data and Master Minimum Equipment List.

 

Your Role and your Team

  • You will be part of the Office of Airworthiness and collaborate with multiple domains in engineering and operations.
  • The focus of this role is to support the development process of OSD (Operational Suitability Data) as part of aircraft certification, and to support the engineers and specialists involved herein.
  • You will join a cross-functional, non-hierarchical, very dynamic and international team working in a demanding and high-paced environment where you will need to be agile and comfortable working self-driven.
  • This role offers a unique opportunity to work across a variety of challenges, as well as to learn from the interaction with internal and external partners and stakeholders as well as aviation authorities.

 

Your Day to Day

  • Support the OSD development with tasks in project management, planning and organizational setup, communication and collaboration with colleagues, partners, stakeholders and authorities, documentation and administration.
  • Ensure that everything needed for the OSD gathering activities is in place
  • Work cross-functionally with teams and colleagues in various areas
  • Take ownership for establishing the overall OSD development processes in the company
  • Get an insight into how it will really be like to build and fly and operate our aircraft

Your Profile

  • Bachelor or Master student in a STEM subject, industrial engineering, aviation / aerospace engineering, business administration or education with focus on projects, or similar
  • Enrolled during the time of the internship
  • First professional experience gained in internships, jobs, voluntary work etc.
  • Good project management and organizational skills
  • Active driver of topics and master of complexity
  • Structured and methodological approach to getting things done
  • Analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
  • Previous experience and application skills in engineering software tools, or other complex user software, beyond the standard Office-Suite
  • Insight into aviation is a plus (e.g. through studies, previous apprenticeships, as a hobby, as a pilot or maintenance staff, etc.)
  • Fluent English with exemplary communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Self-starter with demonstrated ability to work in an unstructured environment with minimal supervision
  • For the internship you will be based in the Lilium headquarter at Oberpfaffenhofen airfield near Munich, the duration may be adjusted to your needs between 6 and 12 months.
