Lightship is an early-stage hardware startup launched in 2020 by Tesla alumni that is bringing the $26B recreational vehicle industry into the electric age. Based in San Francisco and Boulder, Lightship is designing and producing an aerodynamic, battery-powered trailer that liberates travelers from the noise, emissions, and range anxiety of gas RVing.
About the Role
Lightship is seeking a talented Industrial Designer to join us in redefining the future of recreational vehicles. As an Industrial Designer, you will take part in directly shaping the physical experience of our brand to our customers. You will work closely with ID, CMF, and 3D on various needs - across the exterior and interior - in various capacities. You will engage with cross-functional teams to solve challenges and bring exciting things to life.
Onsite/Hybrid Work
Hybrid roles at Lightship require onsite work from our offices Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Tuesdays and Fridays are optional work from home days, when your work will be executed more successfully from home. Speak to the hiring manager to learn more.
Responsibilities
Work with the Lightship design team on a number of design opportunities across Interior, Exterior, and AccessoriesWork through all phases of the design process, from concept through productionUse a variety of tools to explore and mature designs: Sketching, CAD, hands-on prototypesInterface with 3D modelers, engineering, and cross-functional teams to progress designs toward a production ready solutionDrive one or multiple simultaneous projectsDeliver quality work with a positive and respectful manner in a fast paced environmentMinimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Industrial Design3+ years of related industry experienceStrong sense of curiosity and alignment with the design vision for our brandStrong sense of form and aesthetic sensibilities represented in an outstanding portfolio (please be sure to link when applying)Strong visual communication skills and problem solving abilitiesUnderstanding of a wide variety of manufacturing processesUS citizen or qualified US work visaPreferred Qualifications
