As a Homologation Engineer, you will gain exposure to every part of the vehicle and how it works. You will have the opportunity to be part of a team that is homologating the first, ground-up autonomous vehicle design. Achieving this goal requires continuous problem-solving and creativity to navigate the regulations at both a federal and state level.

Vaccine Mandate

Employees working in this position will be required to have received a single dose of the J&J/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine OR have completed the two-dose Pfizer or Moderna vaccine series. In addition, employees will be required to receive a COVID-19 booster vaccine within two months of becoming eligible for the booster vaccine.

Responsibilities

Lead the delivery of FMVSS 200 series compliance

Support the engineering teams with development and assessment of test protocols for FMVSS tests

Track homologation testing and progress toward milestones

Analyze homologation documentation for sufficiency, accuracy, and completeness

Review and identify engineering changes with potential homologation impact. Approve change requests for HW and SW on behalf of homologation

Assist Director, Homologation with developing interpretations of FMVSS

Lead submission of required regulatory reporting

Support issue resolution during vehicle launch

Review Quality Audits for FMVSS compliance concerns

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, or a related field of study

10+ years of experience in vehicle homologation, testing or design and release

Understanding of automotive regulations, especially FMVSS and EPA/CARB

Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle system components and functions

Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop effective solutions efficiently

Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Ability to work independently, assist and mentor junior homologation engineer, and keep the Director apprised of wins and challenges

Compensation

There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $170,000 to $250,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
