As the Director of Safety, you will spearhead the growth of our safety program at Rondo. Collaborating with cross-functional teams - including Project Delivery, R&D, and Engineering - you will ensure the highest standards of safety across our now global operations. Your leadership will be instrumental in supporting our fast-paced technological progress while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.

What You Will Do (key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to): 

  • Cultivate a Safety-First Culture: Lead internal communications and training initiatives to instill a robust safety culture throughout the organization
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive EHS system: Create, implement, and enhance the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program, building upon existing procedures 
  • Team Leadership: Build and manage a team of global and site EHS professionals to ensure effective implementation of safety programs at project sites (construction, operation, maintenance) and manufacturing sites 
  • Incident Response and Learning: Lead incident response efforts. Conduct thorough investigations (e.g. 5WHY, RCA) delving into system and cultural causes 
  • Data-Driven Reporting: Develop programs to track and enforce action close-out with key dashboards for senior managements on leading-lagging indicators of safety
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams: Collaborate with Project Delivery, R&D, Engineering, and Facilities teams to integrate safety measures seamlessly into operations such as participating in design review process to provide design-for-safety recommendations 

 What You Will Bring: 

  • At least 15 years of EHS experience, preferably in a construction projects or manufacturing environment, demonstrating leadership managing EHS teams 
  • A track record of success designing & executing safety processes (from identification to action close-out) across organizations and projects
  • Ability to lead investigations using state-of-the art approaches such as Causal Learning, Root Cause Analysis, and other methods of incident investigation  
  • Deep knowledge of federal and state safety laws and standards  
  • Familiarity with process safety topics such as Design-for-Safety, instrumented protection, and HAZID / HAZOP processes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address safety challenges creatively and proactively
  • This role requires up to 20% travel.

The annual salary range for this role is $170,000 - $250,000 - please note that some pay bands may have wide ranges of compensation to accommodate candidates' diverse sets of skill levels and experience. This role necessitates being on-site at our Alameda HQ. The role is eligible for Rondo's excellent benefits listed above plus additional compensation in the form of equity.
