About the role…

We are looking for a summer intern currently enrolled in an M.S. or Ph.D. program with strong experience in genomics, bioinformatics, or computational biology to join our team focused on using bioinformatics methods to support the improvement of the multiplex editing toolbox. The aim of this intern work is to develop the bioinformatics pipeline to support multiplex gene editing in multiple crops. Together with our engineers, computational biologists, and bioinformatics scientists you will get the opportunity to implement the bioinformatics pipeline into our internal toolbox. This position is located in Cambridge, MA. 

As Genomics/Bioinformatics intern you will ...

  • Develop bioinformatics pipeline
  • Gain familiarity with performing genomics and bioinformatic analyses on cloud platforms (ie AWS)
  • Work with Inari engineers, computational biologists, and bioinformatics scientists to implement the bioinformatics pipeline
  • Perform current literature searches to inform the start of the art method
  • Present your results to stakeholders within the firm
  • Become familiar with the norms of working in a private sector biotechnology company

You bring ...

  • Competency in R and/or Python for performing genomic analysis and developing bioinformatics pipeline
  • Familiarity with analyzing genomic data using Linux, docker, Jupyter notebook, or R Markdown
  • Basic knowledge of plant genome structure, transposable elements, and genome annotation
  • Basic knowledge of paralogs and subgenomes
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • A collaborative mindset; open to giving and receiving ideas, perspectives, and feedback
  • A strong sense of purpose, and drive to develop unique, high impact solutions
