Field Operations Technician

Job Description 

Lilac is seeking field operations technicians to assist with operating, maintaining, and retrofitting our lithium processing facilities at project sites in South America. Responsibilities include providing support to field engineers in constructing, commissioning, testing, and operating process equipment in the field. This individual will need to be open to extensive travel in Argentina on a rotational basis. A strong candidate may well have worked in field-based roles for oil and gas or mining operations,  or has extensive fabrication / installation experience. This is a temporary, contract position.  

 Responsibilities 

• Installation & Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain equipment and piping systems, including filtration systems, extraction units, and associated control systems, among others. 
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance to ensure the optimal performance of lithium extraction and processing equipment. 
• Process Monitoring & Optimization: Monitor the processes, including the flow rates, chemical concentrations, and temperature controls, to ensure efficient lithium extraction. 
• Adjust operational parameters to optimize yield and minimize waste, following standard operating procedures. 
• Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and chemical issues related to equipment and processes promptly. 
• Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to address complex process challenges and implement effective solutions. 
• Field Testing & Quality Control: Conduct field tests and sampling to monitor the quality of lithium extraction, ensuring adherence to industry standards. 
• Calibrate and maintain analytical instruments used for monitoring chemical processes and product quality. 
• Safety Compliance:  Adhere to safety regulations and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, and hazards in the workplace. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols when working with hazardous materials or in confined spaces.  
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including as-built drawings, material lists, and inspection reports. Communicate progress, issues, and concerns to site supervisors.  
• Collaboration and Communication: Communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors to coordinate work activities and meet project deadlines. 

Candidate Qualifications 

• 1+yrs field-based work experience 

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.  

• Technical Education in pipes assembly, electrical or mechanical technician. 

• Experience with fabrication and hands-on problem solving 

• Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude 

• Must be able to pass a high-altitude work test 

• Experience working in rough, high-altitude terrain  

Preferred Skills 

• Spanish and English-speaking proficiency 

• Experience working on remote projects 

• Experience with process plant operations in particular water treatment 

Additional Requirements 

• Must be capable of passing a high-altitude (4.000 masl) screening examination. 

• Must be capable of passing a respirator use screening examination. 

• May be required to pass a drug test, which may include marijuana, as required by certain laws and regulations.
