Charm Industrial is working to return the atmosphere to 280 ppm CO₂. We design, build and operate a fleet of mobile fast pyrolyzers that convert ag and forest biomass residues into bio-oil for use in carbon removal and direct-reduced-iron steelmaking.
In 2020 our Chief Scientist and co-founder Shaun Meehan had two breakthroughs (bio-oil intermediate and bio-oil sequestration) that kickstarted the company. Within 10 months we completed our first carbon removal injection and in 2021 we completed more than 5,000 tons of CO₂e removal for customers like Stripe, Shopify and Microsoft.
If managing moving pieces across multiple sites while keeping operations smooth as bio-oil sounds like your kind of challenge, this may be your moment. Charm Industrial is looking for a hands-on, proactive Injection Operator Lead (Field Operations Lead) to help us scale our carbon removal operations in Kansas!
What’s In It For You:
• Competitive pay: $25–$30/hour depending on experience.
• Work-life balance: Enjoy a 4-days on / 4-days off schedule with 12-hour shifts—more time to rest, explore, or just be weird and wonderful.
• Fully paid health coverage: We cover 100% of your medical premiums because staying healthy shouldn’t come at a cost.
• Stock options: You're not just clocking in—you’re investing in the future of carbon removal.
• 401(k) with matching: We match 50% of contributions up to 6%—save for the future while you help save the planet (after 1 year of service with no additional vesting periods after that).
• Paid time off & parental leave: Recharge with time off and take care of what matters most.
• Annual professional development stipend: We pay you to keep learning, because curiosity is part of the job.
• On-site perks: Healthy snacks and subsidized lunches—because solving climate change works up an appetite.
• Big mission, real impact: Be part of a company literally burying carbon underground—on purpose, and at scale.
How You Stand Out:
Experience & Background:
• 5–7 years of supervisory experience—bonus points if you’ve worked in oil & gas, construction, or other heavy industrial settings. Experience as a lead process operator, construction foreman, or senior field technician also a plus!
• Hands-on exposure to mechanical or chemical processes that involve equipment, systems, or field operations. Familiar with manufacturing, equipment-heavy environments, fast-paced field ops, mechanical systems, chemical processing, or field operations involving injection sites, waste handling, or biomass.
• Background working with equipment logistics, transportation partners, or even hazmat materials is a plus.
Skills & Traits:
• You’re a natural wrangler of people and process—able to build trust, give clear direction, and keep folks aligned. • You take pride in site cleanliness, organization, and having what people need before they ask.
• You speak machine and human fluently—knowing when to get technical and when to coach.
• Operationally obsessed—you love things that run well, run safely, and run on time.
• You think in systems, plan for the unplanned, and stay calm when things break (because they will).
• You care deeply about safety, clarity, and getting the job done right—not just fast.
Your Role in Action:
Field Operations and Leadership:
Lead daily injection site operations—including bio-oil processing, storage, and injection. Run site safety meetings, staff meetings, and subcontractor orientations. Manage site consumables and coordinate turnaround tasks with contractors.
Coaching and Crew Manager:
Hire, train, and lead a rotating crew across multiple sites. Own shift scheduling, approvals, onboarding, and crew readiness. Run weekly meetings, site safety briefings, and crew check-ins like a boss.
Data and Safety Champion:
Ensure carbon removal data is collected accurately, reported consistently, and aligned with MRV standards. Partner with the EHS team to run a tight, compliant, safety-first operation. Spot problems before they happen—and take action fast.
Why Charm:
At Charm Industrial, we’re not just talking about reducing wildfires, improving agricultural soil, health and fighting climate change—we’re actually doing it. Our technology converts excess biomass into carbon-rich bio-oil and injects it underground for permanent carbon removal. It’s bold. It’s scalable. And it’s working.
We’ve already removed thousands of tons of CO₂, and we’re just getting started! Our customers include names like Microsoft, Shopify, and Stripe, and our team includes creative, gritty people who thrive on innovation, ownership, and mission. We take our mission seriously, but not ourselves—expect weird biomass moments, silly machine names, and a lot of joy in doing hard things together.
This isn’t your average field role. It’s boots-on-the-ground carbon removal. If that gets your gears turning, we’d love to meet you!
