Facilities and Maintenance Manager

Job Brief

Twelve seeks an experienced Facilities and Maintenance Manager to join our Workplace Operations team. In this role, you will work with our Facilities and Technical Development teams. You will triage, prioritize and actualize our needs into an optimized physical space. You will be a part of scaling the Maintenance Department from being responsible for one property to multiple sites across the Bay Area. 

The ideal candidate will possess strong team and project management skills, as well as a customer-service mindset. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing your own time as well as a project list. Other skills that would make you well suited is experience with apps such as “AutoCAD”, “G-Suite” and “Asana.” A proactive safety mindset is an absolute must. 

This is a full-time position based in Berkeley and Alameda, California.

What you will do 

• Manage vendors, consultants, and a team of maintenance technicians.
• Coordinate with a variety of stakeholders to transform stated needs or goals into actionable items and scalable systems.
• Establish a preventative maintenance program for HVAC and other facilities systems.
• Be a decision maker for the allocation of Maintenance resources and priorities.
• Establish and manage inventory management and transportation services between sites
• Coordinate with lab users and external service providers on cleaning, preventative maintenance, and inspection of various equipment.
• Collaborate with operations, facilities, and IT teams to develop policy and programs to improve employee experience and maintain compliance with local regulations.
• Perform hands-on facilities maintenance tasks such as installing wall-mounts or moving gas cylinders.

• 5+ years of experience of managing warehouse, manufacturing or laboratory workplaces
• 3+ years of team management experience
• Experience establishing new systems
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong ability to time manage, organize and prioritize
• Strong desire and curiosity to learn new things
• Experience with autocad or other similar design and drafting software
• Experience with plumbing, electrical, or home improvement projects and ability to troubleshoot basic issues
