About the company:

We are a fusion power company based in Everett, WA, with the mission to build the world's first fusion power plant, enabling a future with unlimited clean electricity. Our vision is a world with clean, reliable, and affordable energy for everyone.

Since Helion's founding in 2013, we have raised over $1 billion from long-time investors such as Sam Altman, Mithril, and Capricorn Investment Group and new investors SoftBank and Lightspeed to propel us forward. Our last prototype, Trenta, completed 10,000 high-power pulses and reached plasma temperatures of 100 million degrees Celsius (9 keV). Now, we're turning up operations for Polaris, and working towards delivering the world's first fusion power plant.

More than ever, it's a pivotal time to join us and have the opportunity to solve real challenges to create a better energy future. You will see first-hand how we value urgency, rigor, ownership, and hard truths, knowing it will take each to do what no one has before. Joining us, you will push the boundaries of what's possible and transform humanity for the better - because the world can't wait.

We are building something never done before.

You have an exciting opportunity ahead of you. This is your chance to join us in our mission to build the world’s first fusion power plant, enabling a future with clean, reliable, and abundant energy for everyone. It’s our hope you will join us in the journey ahead.

Our mission is courageous, and we’re looking for brilliant people who want to make a positive impact on the world. As a Helion team member, you will shape the future. You will build things that have never been built to help stop carbon emissions, promote energy independence, and end energy poverty.

We move fast, prioritize what matters, and iterate quickly so we can accelerate everything we do. At Helion, we grow and learn together while working with never-before-seen technology. As part of the team, you will work with the world’s leading scientists, engineers, and technicians to build a world-changing fusion machine.

Now is a great time to join Helion. Bring your skills, experiences, and determination to make a difference in the world. Together, we can make a future with unlimited clean energy from fusion a reality.

What You Will Be Doing:

Helion Energy is looking for an Experimental Research Scientist or Engineer to help scale up the size of the FRC formation section of its fusion generators. This person will be part of a small group of scientists, engineers, and technicians responsible for designing, building, and testing the world’s largest FRC.

  • Develop and validate technical specifications to comply with project requirements
  • Prepare laboratory test plans and procedures, and present at test readiness reviews
  • Install and operate high density plasma sources (such as helicon, ECR, ring theta, etc.) and diagnostics
  • Support and maintain vacuum facilities and related support equipment such as gas fuel feed systems, high-voltage power electronics, data acquisition systems, and diagnostics
  • Analyze diagnostic test data, write reports, and present results

About You:

  • S. or M.S in aerospace engineering, physics, or related field of study
  • Basic understanding of plasma physics
