Position: Environmental Impact Research Intern

Schedule: Monday-Friday 9-5

Hourly Payrate: $25/hour for Masters Level Education or $27/hour for PhD level Education

This is an exciting opportunity for a subject matter expert within the field of sustainable agriculture to contribute to Pivot Bio’s impact research. The primary responsibility will be to develop a comprehensive literature review on pathways of nitrogen loss from row cropping systems in relevant crops and geographies and the off-farm impacts of those loss pathways. Depending on interest and expertise, the role may also conduct a technical analysis of existing N2O calculation methodologies and source relevant literature values for regional emissions factors for target crops and regions.

Responsibilities:

In this role, an intern may:

  • Develop literature review contributing to a whitepaper on the impacts of nitrogen loss at various scales
  • Catalog existing process models addressing nitrogen flux in agricultural soils and conduct technical analysis of each
  • Collaborating with the impact team within Finance, PR/Comms, Commerical Sustainability to support research needs and develop annotated issue briefs on specific topics
  • Develop key impact metrics for emerging crops and regions of interest
  • Develop a learning project and present project objective and results upon completion of internship

  Physical Demands:

  • Job will involve mostly office and computer-based work
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, or fingers
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing
  • Communicating with others to exchange information

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Currently pursuing a Masters or higher degree in Resource or Agriculture Economics, GHG modeling, Ecology, Agronomy, Environmental Policy or science, Agricultural Policy, Climate Change or related field
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to self-manage time and execute on assigned responsibilities
