The Role

As our EHS Manager, you’ll deploy EHS standards as well as improve our EHS systems. You’ll use human and organizational performance principles to drive ownership of safety, health, and environmental impacts, with a focus on engagement, shared learning and systems-level problem solving.

You’ll also develop, implement, and continuously improve programs within the EHS Management System framework, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations and conformance to internal standards.

Compensation displayed is a range, maximum amounts are reserved for those candidates that exceed all experience and background requirements.  We reserve the right to offer compensation based on level of experience.  Moxion has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. The range above reflects the potential base pay within the San Francisco Bay area, if you live outside that region, the range is subject to change. 

Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within the range provided above. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.

What you'll do:

  • Oversee all EH&S for the Richmond Factory
  • Lead team to establish and improve EHS processes and programs, as they relate to battery manufacturing and validation/test/prototype.
  • Heat map incident trends and use risk assessment methods to identify continuous improvement projects that reduce injury, illness and environmental impact events.
  • Facilitate incident investigations from a root cause analysis approach, ensuring that preventative actions address all contributing factors and account for human error.
  • Drive and ensure the EHS Management System elements are applied effectively by your team throughout Operations & Engineering. 
  • Develop new procedures, inspections, training, or reports as needed.
  • Review equipment and space designs on everything from machine guards to chemical processes, and provide feedback on EHS impacts; Industrial Hygiene, Fire Safety, Chemical Safety, Process Safety, Hazardous Materials, NFPA Standards, ANSI/ASTM Standards, etc.
  • Coach, mentor and support other EHS team members
  • Manage safety committees with operations, engineering and leadership
  • Manage compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations, and conformance to internal standard
  • Skills to be successful:

  • Prior experience managing a team.
  • Extensive work experience as an environmental, health or safety professional 
  • Experience leading EHS program development, training all levels of personnel, and influencing/managing change
  • International Building and Fire Code compliance, life safety monitoring systems, and Fire Alarm Control Panels (FACP)
  • Proven understanding of process design, process validation, implementing safety by design principles, conducting hazardous operations, engineering design reviews, risk elimination and retirement methodologies
  • Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Work, Power Point, Project, etc.) or Google Suite.
  • Positive attitude and someone that works well with people of all backgrounds.  
  • Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Hard worker – willing to put in the hours to ensure Moxion’s success. 
  • Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism.  
  • Detail-oriented, process focused.  
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Sound problem-solving skills.
