Company
Bedrock Energy is on a mission to transform the heating and cooling of buildings, using carbon-free, hyper-efficient, and ultra-safe geothermal energy to radically reduce costs for people and the environment. Incorporated in 2022, we are funded by top investors in climate and energy and are gathering exceptional talent to scale geothermal energy to decarbonize buildings everywhere. We’re seeking creative, collaborative, proactive team members who inspire us with their high standards of excellence, integrity, and commitment to our shared mission.
Role
As an early member of Bedrock’s Engineering team, you will collaborate directly with Bedrock’s leadership team, technology partners, and a growing team of software, electrical, mechanical, and operations engineers to deliver technologies that unlock geothermal heating and cooling at scale. Specifically, you will support the development of crucial surface and subsurface technologies that enable autonomous geo-field construction. In doing so, you will also help set the early foundation of our engineering organization’s culture, processes, systems, and standards.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and deploy electrical and/or electronics hardware and related firmware for downhole tools and surface systems for geothermal heating and cooling applications, including analog and digital circuitry, power transmission and distribution, and signal and communication systemsOwn the electrical design and development life-cycle for these product areas, including developing strong relationships with internal and external partners to continuously improve our designs, systems, and processesCollaborate with business development colleagues, operational crews, and commercial partners to design and analyze field projects, acquire and process high-quality data, write engineering reports, conduct diagnosis of routine electrical and/or electronics malfunctions, and ensure efficient completion of geothermal installationsDiagnose, service, troubleshoot, repair or replace, and maintain electrical and/or electronics instruments, systems, and component levels in surface and downhole equipmentCollaborate with mechanical, software, and operations engineers for the design, development, manufacturing, and deployment of integrated technologiesParticipate in professional societies in areas of specialization, write technical papers, and present at technical and trade conferencesSupport in development of patent inventions when applicableShare skills and knowledge across the organization by documenting best practices, case histories, and lessons learned to the company’s knowledge management database and in team learning sessionsPerform other electrical engineering tasks, as assigned by Bedrock’s leadershipQualifications
