Skills & Responsibilities
Lead the development of vehicle multi-body models to provide insight into vehicle dynamics and vehicle performance attributesProvide guidance to the Product Engineering teams on how to achieve vehicle dynamics and vehicle performance targetsRun full vehicle durability studies using virtual proving ground and virtual multiaxial testing toolsLead the development of quasi-static design loads to support vehicle programmesValidate model inputs and assumptions via experimental testing and data gatheringSanity checking work using hand calculations and first principlesWork closely with colleagues in the RED-CAT team sharing knowledge and experience acquired across all Arrival productsReview, update and maintain best practice multi-body simulation guidelines for use across the companyCollaborate with the Rapid Engineering Design (RED) team to assist with the automation of processes and workflowsReport status and escalate conflicts to the Lead 1D Vehicle Performance Engineer Masters degree or PhD in Engineering, Maths, Physics, or equivalent scientific subjectExcellent team-worker, who is agile, proactive, and has a "startup" attitudeExperience working closely with vehicle dynamics tuning engineers and/or durability attribute engineersGood experience creating, running and validating multi-body models for vehicle dynamics and/or durability using either MSc Adams, MotionView or SimPackExperience creating, running and validating 1D models using open source software, Amesim, or SimulinkGood knowledge of vehicle suspension, vehicle dynamics, vehicle performance, kinematics & compliance, etcExperience using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Product Life-cycle Management (PLM) systemsExperience in automation, scripting and programming, preferably in PythonTrack record demonstrating creativity and ingenuity
