Position:  Director of Procurement and Sourcing

As the Director, Procurement and Sourcing, you’ll bring experience in leading our global procurement operation, evaluating and improving our processes and policies, developing and supporting our team, and influencing key decision makers in how procurement can best support business growth while helping to drive savings.    The successful leader will set the strategic plan for the team but also enjoy using their experience to engage directly in critical and sensitive transactions with the business.    This leader will partner with all aspects of the business to build and improve business and purchasing processes. 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all aspects of Pivot Bio’s corporate sourcing and procurement operations - scale a function (people, systems and processes) that will grow with the Company.
  • Develop and grow the team, evaluate our system stack and lead through changes which will be needed to support the Company’s fast growth. A leader in this role must be able to “think big” but manage expectations of a broad base of customers in this important function.
  • Be a leader who is driven to build high performing teams, contributing to a positive and empathetic culture that values members, providing support and mentorship along the way.
  • Strong operational skills required to drive consistency and speed in the execution of our procure to pay processes.
  • Develop travel and spend policies appropriate for our size and growth; develop a communication strategy to bring awareness and compliance to our policies.
  • Be comfortable communicating results and addressing issues as they arise to management regularly
  • Ensure controls over procure to pay processes and in our travel programs are in place and are executed timely and accurately.
  • Work with Pivot Bio’s external auditors and advisors on audit, accounting and other matters as needed; work cross functionally with business partners to continue to challenge efficiencies in the procurement and negotiation processes.
  • Ability and desire to flex with the Company’s growth and continued international expansion.

 Physical Demands:

  • Job will involve mostly office and computer-based work
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, or fingers
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing
  • Communicating with others to exchange information

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree finance or business administration
  • 15+ years of corporate experience at global, publicly traded growth companies in a similar leadership position.
  • Experience leading through an IPO process is a positive.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills w/ strong business acumen
  • A proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and to build strong working relationships.
  • Demonstrable experience managing, developing and mentoring finance professionals, growing future leaders and inspiring high performing teams.
  • Experience with financial systems.

All remote positions and those not located in our Berkeley, Hayward or Boston locations are paid based on National Benchmark data.  Following employment, growth beyond the hiring range is possible based on performance.
Hiring Compensation Range
$158,000$197,000 USD
This salary range for this Berkeley, CA, Hayward, CA or Boston, MA based position incorporates a premium for the cost of labor in this area.  If this role is hired remotely of one of Pivot Bio's facilities, contact us for the lower range for National Benchmark.  Following employment, growth beyond the hiring range is possible based on performance.
