Director, Pre-Construction

ICON is looking for an experienced leader to serve as Director of Pre-construction. You have built teams to optimize project planning, estimating, subcontractor coordination, and budgeting. You know the world of construction developments inside and out and know how to deliver profitable projects. This role reports to the Vice President, Design-Build Operations and is based in our Austin, TX campus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage and develop teams performing construction estimating, planning project schedules, and lining up subcontractors.
• Establish best practices, processes, and systems to support pre-construction operations.
• Coordinate with project managers, construction stakeholders, and the architecture team to understand project requirements and scope.
• Serve as a single point of contact for projecting project profitability.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, construction management, project management, or finance.
• 10+ years of experience in pre-construction or estimating.
• 5+ years of experience with financial analysis and budgeting with large-scale construction project management.
• 5+ years of experience in a leadership position. 

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Strong attention to detail and financial acumen.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and project management applications. 
• Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and manage competing priorities.
• Ability to think strategically to analyze the needs of the business and define solutions.
• Ability to navigate between strategic work and tactical execution.
• Ability to be available for after hours or pre-hours on occasion.
• Highly adaptable, comfortable with change and ambiguity, and capable of quickly rallying teams and resources.
