What you will do:  

Reporting to the CFO, the Director of Business Control and FP&A at Electra, will build and lead a high-performing team of business control specialists. The business control function is responsible for financial planning and analysis, managing cost control, budget management, and strategic decision support for the different construction blocks of this mega project.

 

About the team

The Finance team is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity and transparency, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing valuable insights to support Electra's growth and sustainability goals. Our team collaborates closely with cross-functional departments to optimize financial performance, from budgeting and forecasting to cost analysis and strategic planning.

 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Strategic Financial Leadership: Lead, develop and drive the Business Control and FP&A function, providing strategic financial guidance to support Electra's growth and sustainability objectives.
  • Budget and Forecast Management: Develop and manage annual budgets and financial forecasts, collaborating closely and acting as the finance partner to the company's cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with organizational goals and financing activities, including loans and grants.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including variance analysis and financial modelling, to provide insights that inform strategic decision-making and optimize operational performance to support the Business planCompliance and Risk Management: Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal control processes, proactively identifying and mitigating financial risks.
  • Fundraising activities: Support with financing and fundraising activities, including managing due diligence activities, liaising with advisors, and coordinating activities within the organization.
  • Team Leadership: Build and mentor a high-performing team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence in financial control and analysis as the organisation grows across the Electra footprint.
  • Build, manage and develop a team of Business Controllers to ensure budgets and forecasting processes are robust and project reporting is maintained.
  • Work with and develop best in class project reporting to enable the project team to understand and manage their budgets and understand their spend profiles.

 

 

What we need you to bring to the team:

  • A Bachelor or Master’s degree in Finance or MBA/Relevant University Degree
  • 12+ years working experience working with Business Control or Project Control in a fast-growth environment
  • Previous experience with major capital projects (200M +) in the construction industry
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of project budgets, financial forecasts and report variances
  • Deliver reports for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Cash flow analysis and cash flow forecasts
  • Define hourly rates and business models for part of our resources.
  • Ad hoc analysis to support scenario planning and decision making
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Develop and document business processes.
  • Development of the ERP system to optimize processes where possible
  • Additional controller duties when necessary
  • Support accounting operations including project controlling, Cost Accounting, and Revenue Recognition
  • Experience leading a team
  • Bilingual Communication: Fluent communication in French and English to effectively collaborate with diverse team and liaise with local and international stakeholders
  • Track record of successfully helping drive good financial governance routines, supporting financing activities, ensuring business feels strong ownership over its financial mandate and performance

 

 

What we want you to bring to the team:   

  • Experience in a Project Finance or Structured Finance environment.
  • Experience and interest in manufacturing industry, especially in the areas of developing and constructing large industrial projects.
  • Fluency in other languages.
  • Experience from a multi-cultural environment.
  • Experienced in fast-moving industrial developments with tight timelines and high pace of work.

 

 

Compensation:   

  • The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $166,000-$184,000 annually and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
