We are seeking a Director of Supplier Quality to lead global supplier quality activities for Body in White (BIW), Dimensional Control, and Tooling. This leader will own supplier quality across design, development, industrialization, and launch phases—ensuring flawless execution, robust dimensional control, and long-term quality excellence.

The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of strategic leadership, global supplier management, and deep BIW/Tooling technical expertise. They will recruit, mentor, and lead a team of supplier quality engineers and managers while serving as a trusted partner to Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Global Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing global supplier quality team focused on BIW, dimensional control, and tooling. Define strategy, set priorities, and develop organizational capability.
  • Supplier Quality Ownership: Own supplier quality lifecycle from sourcing through industrialization, launch, and ongoing production. Ensure zero-defect launches and robust supplier systems.
  • Technical Excellence: Provide technical leadership in BIW welded assemblies, complex stampings, hot stamping, and tooling validation. Drive best practices in dimensional engineering, GD&T compliance, and gaging methods.
  • Process Development: Establish and improve supplier quality processes including APQP, PPAP, PDR, gage R&R, and control plans to ensure readiness for mass production.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, and Procurement to ensure manufacturability, quality standards, and timing requirements are met.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead supplier audits, root cause analysis, and corrective actions. Drive suppliers toward world-class quality standards and continuous process improvement.
  • Launch Readiness: Ensure readiness of tooling, welding, and assembly systems for new program launches—including commissioning, process validation, and dimensional verification.
  • Metrics & Governance: Define and monitor supplier quality KPIs, implement global best practices, and ensure alignment across Lucid’s BIW and tooling supply base.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing, or engineering within high-volume automotive environments; at least 7 years in leadership roles.
  • Deep expertise in BIW, stamping, hot stamping, welded assemblies, dimensional control, and tooling.
  • Proven success leading global supplier quality teams and large-scale automotive launches.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, APQP, PPAP, DOE, lean manufacturing, and problem-solving methodologies (8D, DFSS, SPC).
  • Exceptional ability to manage suppliers at the executive level while also rolling up sleeves on technical problem-solving.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with executive presence and cross-functional influence.
  • Ability to travel globally (25% average, occasionally on short notice).
  • Certifications (ASQ, Six Sigma Black Belt, etc.) preferred.
