About Harbinger

Harbinger Motors Inc. is a Los Angeles-based electric vehicle manufacturer on a mission to transform the automotive and transportation industries, bringing to market EVs developed from the ground up to address the needs of the Medium Duty vehicle industry. Position Overview

As a member of the controls team, you will help shape the behavior of Harbinger's vehicle platform through development of application software and controls systems.

Responsibilities

Develop software algorithms in Simulink & Stateflow across:

Propulsion Controls

HV Battery State and Power Management

Vehicle State-Machines

Thermal Controls

Body Controls

Create physical models in SimScape to represent vehicle components and systems

Build Algorithm code using code generation tools

Calibrate Algorithms for performance in-vehicle

Create and execute controls development and validation plans

Software Requirements authoring and decomposition of system requirements

Debug issues in implemented code found in simulation testing or in-vehicle testing

Create Diagnostics of system level faults

Develop fail-safe strategies for algorithms in response to detected faults

Preferred Skills and Experience

Experience with Electric Vehicle Propulsion Systems including: electric motors / drive units, high voltage battery systems, charging systems including J1772 and CCS, DC-DC conversion systems, thermal architectures and systems

Experience writing requirements and specifications for electromechanical propulsion systems

Experience with requirements management tools (Polarion, Jama, Visure, DOORs, etc.)

Exposure to functional safety standards and work products (ISO26262)

Experience with physical modelling and simulation tools such as GTSuite, CarSim, Kuli, or others

Familiarity with system failure analyses: DFMEA, FTA

Experience with Automotive life-cycle from concept to production

Familiarity with source control systems: git, svn

Experience with python, c/c++, and useful programming languages
