As Moxion’s Controls Engineer, you will support production equipment including electrical test equipment used by Moxion’s Battery Manufacturing lines. This highly collaborative position is a key part of the Battery Technology team, and you’ll work with engineers, and technicians to establish Moxion as a world-class manufacturer of battery-based energy storage.

Maximum amounts are reserved for those candidates that exceed all experience and background requirements.  We reserve the right to offer compensation based on level of experience.  Moxion has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. The range above reflects the potential base pay within the San Francisco Bay area. If you live outside that region, the range is subject to change. 

Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within the range provided above. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.

What you’ll do:

  • Work with manufacturing equipment and processes ranging from whole production lines to individual automation cells by working with both internal design resources and external automation vendors.
  • Maintain equipment software that interfaces between manufacturing equipment and supervisory level systems such as the factory Manufacturing Execution system (MES).
  • Work with HMIs and SCADA systems for manufacturing production lines and automation work cells.
  • Work with testing equipment for electrical systems.
  • Work with safety systems for safeguarding robots, gantries, conveyors, and other high volume manufacturing equipment.
  • Assist in the debug and optimizing of automated processes to reduce cycle time, maximize availability and improve yield.
  • Support manufacturing by implementing the testing and programming processes needed for production.
  • Create training plans and troubleshooting documentation for maintenance and production teams who will be the end user and supporter of the equipment after launch.
  • Skills to be successful:

  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good organizational and communication skills, and ability to manage projects. 
  • Hands on experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Some exposure to PLC based control systems, HMI interfaces, and SCADA systems.
  • Experience with electrical standards, and safe troubleshooting of electrical systems.
  • Experience operating and maintaining automation equipment and industrial machinery.
  • Experience with electrical test equipment such as DMMs, Volt meters, Isolation testing, oscilloscopes, software installation, etc.
  • You might also have:

  • Familiarity with common controls hardware used in automation equipment.
  • Familiarity with programming languages and/or a desire to learn them.
  • Knowledge of safety standards (ANSI/RIA15.06, OSHA).
  • Knowledge of Electrical Standards for industrial machinery (NFPA79, National Electric Code, UL508A).
  • Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar technical field– example Majors include: Electrical Engineering, Computer and Control Systems, Mechatronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering etc.
