About the role....

As a Commercial Marketing Lead, you will build and manage all aspects of a comprehensive marketing plan and the management of other personnel to drive accountability and results for the launch of the Inari product portfolio of genetics, traits, and edits.

This is a great opportunity for a talented Marketing Lead to co-develop the Inari product portfolio positioning as we accelerate our commercial expansion. This role will be a key contributor to the Commercial Leadership Team (CLT) and to the commercial plans of Inari.  The Marketing Lead will develop marketing materials for use by the Commercial Team, customers and collaborators consistent with Inari LTO positioning, regulatory requirements and to optimize growth.  This role will support the crop teams with project management support, documenting and tracking the product portfolio development across all crops, including the launch and management of Inari traits and gene edited products and documenting and tracking key initiatives for the Commercial Team. This role will support the VP of Product on the implementation and tracking of product concepts into the stage gate.

The Marketing Lead will work with CLT members, Crop Team Leads and Business Development Leads to help identify potential market place opportunities including business plan and program development, end-use market applications and product line/segment planning. This role will also support and develop immediate end-use project/account tracking and planning activity. This role will take the project lead on cross functional commercial projects including CLT actions.  The Marketing Lead will need to be able to collaborate across boundaries to represent the commercial team on cross-functional projects and working groups as assigned.

This position may be based remotely or in our West Lafayette, Indiana location and reports to the Sr. VP Commercial.

As Commercial Marketing Lead, you will…

  • Collaboratively develop and manage the Commercial Playbook, including the 4 P’s of marketing - coordinating closely with sales, product, collaboration, licensing, operations, product development and legal
  • Develop customer-focused portfolio strategy and plan for market approach, traits, and edits, including pricing mix across products
  • Develop marketing materials
  • Develop product positioning strategy and details with input and support of key R&D and Commercial stakeholders
  • Work with Commercial Leadership Team to develop product collateral needed to support commercial sales and/or promotion
  • Work with Commercial Operations and Sales on the implementation of Independent Seed Brand licenses and their implementation of grower use agreements and royalty reporting
  • Maintain good working knowledge of competitive landscape to better manage the Inari portfolio as well as make portfolio decisions
  • Assist in the development, nomination, valuation, and prioritization of future Product Concepts in corn, soybeans and wheat

You Bring…

  • B.S. in Ag Business, Ag Marketing, Agronomy or similar with 5+ years of industry experience in Ag sales & marketing, agronomy, and/or product management
  • Strong understanding of all aspects of marketing, including the 4 P’s. Strong knowledge of the seed business, including product performance evaluation, agronomic practices, growing environment differences, and seed production & supply chain
  • Working knowledge of product lifecycle management, portfolio management, and optimization
  • Demonstrated strength in working and influencing across functions and teams. Ability to collaborate across Science, Product Development, and Commercial
  • Aptitude for working with and learning technical information related to Agriculture and/or seed technologies
  • Ability to develop marketing materials for use with customers to present products and/or technologies in a way that customers will understand
  • Ability to sort through ambiguity and strong interest to create structure, process, and policy in area of responsibility
  • Working knowledge of standard office software tools
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • A strong sense of purpose and drive to develop unique, high impact solutions
  • Adaptability and enthusiasm for new challenges, innate curiosity, and a passion for learning

Bonus Qualifications…

  • Basic understanding of crop development and agronomy
  • Basic understanding of corn & soybean product development
  • Business-to-Business experience would be very helpful
  • Previous experience in seed licensing very beneficial, though not required
