Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Color & Material Designer with a strong aviation background to join our team. This role is critical in turning innovative design ideas into reality, ensuring that all concepts are not only aesthetically impressive but also practical and feasible for serial production. You will be responsible for the end-to-end execution of color and material strategies, from concept creation to final production for our whole product family, working cross-functionally to ensure the smooth and successful transition from design to mass manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the execution of color and material strategies from the conceptual phase through to production, ensuring all decisions are aligned with serial manufacturing goals and aviation standards and suppliers
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product development, and manufacturing teams to ensure that materials and finishes can be industrialized efficiently without compromising design intent.
  • Lead the selection and validation of materials, ensuring they meet rigorous aviation regulations, durability, and sustainability requirements, while also being optimized for mass production.
  • Work directly with suppliers, external partners, and production teams to ensure all color and material selections are cost-effective, scalable, and seamlessly integrated into the manufacturing process.
  • Develop technical specifications, process guidelines, and documentation for color and material integration, ensuring accurate translation of design concepts into production-ready components.
  • Coordinate prototype development and ensure accurate sampling of materials and finishes, iterating based on real-world testing, manufacturability assessments, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Participate actively in design reviews and cross-functional meetings, driving decision-making on material feasibility and execution challenges, ensuring deadlines are met at every stage.
  • Manage and maintain the color and material library, ensuring all materials are logged with complete specifications and approved for aviation use.
  • Troubleshoot challenges that arise during the transition from design to production, addressing any issues with material properties, color consistency, or manufacturing constraints.
  • Keep pace with industry advancements in materials science, aviation manufacturing processes, and sustainability, implementing innovative solutions that enhance the serial production process.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, or related fields with a focus on materials and color.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a Color & Material Designer, with a strong track record of successful execution in aviation, automotive, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Deep understanding of aerospace materials, processes, and the requirements for moving from concept to production.
  • Proven experience in executing designs for serial production, including managing the transition from prototypes to scalable solutions.
  • Knowledge of aviation-specific compliance standards, regulations, and material performance criteria.
  • Experience collaborating with engineering, product, and manufacturing teams to solve design and production challenges.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, with an ability to create clear technical documentation.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to balance multiple deadlines, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and drive execution.
  • A results-oriented mindset with the ability to execute designs with precision while maintaining flexibility to adapt to challenges in production.
  • Fluent English
