Your Mission:
To make Zero Bills the standard for New Homes in the UK. Octopus Energy is a leading energy provider in the UK and a major investor in renewable generation, with a global presence across 32 countries and 7.3 million customers. We are a tech company at the forefront of the green energy revolution, currently valued at $9 billion. We are committed to decarbonizing the UK's housing stock and delivering transformational solutions to our customers. By working with developers, councils and innovators across the industry, we plan to build 100,000 Zero Bills homes by 2030.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dynamic and well-connected Business Development Manager to drive the adoption of Octopus Zero Bills and our broader renewable energy solutions within the new home building sector. This role will primarily focus on building strong relationships with house builders and their supply chain as well as with their partners including Build to Rent funds, councils and housing associations.
This role is remote, with frequent regional travel. An electric vehicle will be provided.

What you'll do
B2B Sales to House builders:Identify, target, and onboard house builders as Octopus Zero Bills Delivery Partners.Identify, target, and onboard key supply chain partners as Octopus Zero Bills Install Partners.Working with the wider Octopus Zero Bills team, guide house builders through the accreditation and onboarding process.
Sales Training and Enablement:Develop and deliver sales training to installer sales teams on the features and benefits of Cosy Heat Pumps, Zero Bills Homes, and Tenant Power.Equip teams to handle objections and position Octopus’s unique value proposition.
End client Engagement (Build to Rent funds, Councils & Housing Associations):Sell Zero Bills Homes & Tenant Power to build to rent funds, councils and housing associations, highlighting revenue benefits for landlords and bill savings for tenants.Position Octopus as the "go-to" partner for new build projects.
Product Knowledge and Key Skills:Become an expert on the Zero Bills Proposition, assessment process (SAP/PHPP calculations, Zero Bills Assessors, Solar PV design) and the key technologies (solar, battery, heat pump, EV chargers and associated intelligent controls).Highlight advantages and the commercial benefits for house builders, customers and key partners.Set out the broader Octopus offering.
Collaboration and Strategy:Work closely with internal teams to achieve sales targets and accelerate the rollout of Zero Bills.Contribute to the overall Zero Bills and Tenant Power plan and identify key partners for targeted outreach.What we need from you
Proven B2B sales experience within the new build housing industry.Demonstrated ability to sell to large organizations, including house builders, councils, and housing associations.Strong presentation and training skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.Knowledge of House building and key technologies that enable Zero Bills Homes, and Tenant Power concepts is highly desirable.Understanding of solar PV, battery and heat pump technology, design, and installation processes.Excellent relationship-building and negotiation skills.Self-motivated with a proactive approach to sales and business development.Ability to travel as required.A team Player with can do, positive attitude to consistently exceed team and individual targets💚 Why else you'll love it here
