The position: 

The Research Associate will be a key member of our bioprocess development team working to scale-up and improve our cultured meat production processes. Associates in this role will be responsible for preparation and execution of key experiments, validating methods, equipment preparation and process monitoring, media and buffer preparation, sampling and cell culture analysis, maintenance of accurate experimental records, and troubleshooting any problems that might arise. There will be ample opportunity for growth within our expanding bioprocess development team. This role is especially suited to a candidate who enjoys executing routine tasks and processes with great eye for detail, while also thinking about ways that they can be improved and being part of developing the process.

What you need to succeed

  • An education in bioengineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, cell biology, molecular biology, or related engineering/life sciences field. 
  • 6+ years of experience working in biotech or related fields.
  • At least 3 years of mammalian cell culture experience and aseptic technique - suspension culture experience is a major plus. 
  • Excellent, in-depth knowledge of good laboratory practices, assay execution and safety.
  • At least 2 years experience with bioreactor setup, operation, cleaning, maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • The ability to occasionally lift loads up to 50lbs

Start Date & Location: The San Francisco Bay Area, starting within the next 2 months.

Compensation: $80,000-$100,000 (bi-weekly payments), significant stock options (subject to vesting), performance-based bonus, and free lunch and drinks every day.
