Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 60 miles at speeds of up to 150 mph while producing minimal noise.

This internship is a part of a 10-week summer internship program opportunity. This role will be based at Archer’s headquarters in San Jose, California and relocation or housing will not be provided. 

What You’ll Do:

Archer is seeking a highly motivated and talented Battery Engineering Intern to join our dynamic team. This internship opportunity provides hands-on experience within the Battery team  and an opportunity to contribute to real-world projects. The successful candidate will work closely with our experienced engineering team, gaining exposure to various aspects of the engineering process.

• Build data automation and analysis set up for battery thermal runaway testing, pack testing and cell characterization testing
• Support battery pack and cell test regiments
• Craft automated analysis scripts to extract key performance indicators from standardized battery test data
• Generate plots and data visualization in Python using standard libraries
• Version control analysis scripts and reports
• Build out documentation to enable other engineers to perform customized analyses

What You Need:

• Currently enrolled in a degree program related to engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science or a related field at an accredited university, preferably a Junior going in to your Senior year
• Background in Aerospace, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or Technology
• Experience in automotive, aerospace or battery fields 
• Strong academic performance in relevant coursework
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to design fixtures in CAD and the ability to create documentation
• Experience with hands-on testing or the willingness to learn 
• Experience with LabVIEW or Python
• Results focused 
• Aligned with Archer’s core values 

Bonus Qualifications:

• Previous coursework or experience in engineering related fields
• Familiarity with the aviation industry

Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
