Sublime is developing a breakthrough process to make low-carbon cement. The technology replaces the industry's legacy fossil-fuel-intensive thermal calciner process with an electrochemical process that produces low-carbon cement at ambient temperatures with renewable electricity. Sublime was started in 2020, as a spin-out of Yet-Ming Chiang's lab at MIT (Form Energy, A123, American Superconductor, 24M, Desktop Metals).

Sublime Systems is a technology company commercializing affordable, ultra-low-carbon cement. Sublime's breakthrough replaces the industry's legacy fossil fuel-fired kilns with an electrochemical system that operates at ambient temperature, eliminating the use of fossil fuel and the need for limestone, resulting in low-carbon, low-embodied energy cement. This technology has the potential to drive gigaton-scale CO2 reductions in an industry responsible for 8 percent of global emissions. Position Overview

Sublime Systems seeks an Accounting Manager to oversee accounting operations of the company and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The ideal candidate is an exceptional general accountant with strong organizational skills as well as an excellent communicator who can lead by influence verbally and in writing. This person can coordinate cross-functionally to ensure grant tasks are completed on time by multiple stakeholders. This is a full-time, in-person position in Somerville, MA, with flexibility to occasionally work from home depending on team and project needs.

Your Right to Work

Responsibilities include:

Process day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), to maintain accurate financial records

Prepare and financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance

Perform month-end and quarter-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting

Process payroll accurately and in compliance with relevant regulations

Create and document standard operating procedures to streamline accounting functions and improve internal controls

Ensure appropriate processing of all invoices, verifying them against purchase orders, contracts, and receipts coding to proper departments and projects

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes and support business initiatives

Provide financial updates for all stakeholders, including quarterly Board of Director Meetings and investor reporting

Spearhead system enhancements and improvements to procurement processes

Provide support for year-end audit, tax compliance, and the annual budget process, including liaising with auditors and tax authorities

Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as needed
