The Battery Test Technician will support battery test engineers in the setup, execution, and analysis of lithium-ion battery testing at the cell, module, and pack level. The technician will be responsible for building test fixtures and assisting with lab activities.
Responsibilities
- Work with engineering to setup and run tests at the cell, module, and pack level
- Design and assembly of simple fixtures and tools used for testing
- Assembly of battery modules and battery packs
- Install thermocouples into test units, confirm function, record data
- Maintain documentation/trackers with battery performance data
- Maintain and calibrate lab equipment as needed
- Conduct incoming inspection tests on battery cells, prepare inspection reports
- Prepare battery cells, modules, packs for recycling
- Support battery lab 5S program
Qualifications
- 2+ years’ experience in a testing or laboratory environment
- Familiar with EV battery test equipment AV900, ABC170
- Familiar with operation of function generators, oscilloscopes, DC power supplies
- Familiar with Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel
- Prior experience and building test fixtures and equipment
- Comfortable working with electrical wiring and soldering
- Comfortable working with EV high voltage components
- Works well with team members (close engineering/technician collaboration)
- Previous experience in a battery lab is a plus
- Strong communication skills required
- Ability to work on a team as well as individually
- 10% travel may be required
