What You Will Be Doing

The user experience (UX) researcher creates understanding and empathy around user needs, stated and unstated, for the entire product team including designers, product managers, and engineers.

As the electric vehicle charging pioneer and industry leader, we constantly strive to understand our users’ emerging needs and expectations as we build solutions across consumer and enterprise spaces. The UX researcher evolves our understanding of our users and their journeys, provides insight into emerging behaviour and shapes product definitions by delivering compelling presentations and robust artifacts. They inform strategy, content and interaction design so that the choreography of our products and services delivers value for users on all sides of the business - consumers, customers and internal roles.

Our multidisciplinary UX teams include designers, researchers, product managers, and engineers who are passionate about quality, usability, and performance. We collaborate closely with product managers, software engineers, and many others to solve complex challenges and craft powerful experiences that highlight our unique product capabilities and personalities. Our work touches most electric vehicle drivers while exemplifying a key principle that is core to ChargePoint's philosophy: "Focus on the user and all else will follow."

What You Will Bring to ChargePoint

  • Independently scope, design, execute UX research projects for consumer and enterprise products and services
  • Translate complex technical requirements and business goals into measurable UX metrics and meaningful research objectives
  • Engage a diverse user population – EV drivers, electricians, business owners, internal teams - for short and long-term study via remote and on-site projects
  • Craft actionable insights and artifacts through storytelling and visualization
  • Engage global teams and leadership across the business (e.g., Product, Engineering, Operations, Sales) to prioritize research needs, build consensus and drive insights
  • Maintain and share a holistic view of the customer in collaboration with other insight disciplines (e.g., Customer Support, Marketing, Data Science)
  • Contribute to our research processes, tools and methods

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Anthropology, Human Factors, Psychology, HCI/Computer Science or other related fields or equivalent practical experience
  • 3-5 years of applied UX research utilizing qualitative and quantitative methods throughout the product development cycle
  • A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end ownership of roadmaps, projects and deliverables
  • Long-form experience (not one-off projects) shaping UX on a range of touchpoints and form factors - connected hardware, mobile and desktop software, internal tools
  • Interest or experience with complex product-service systems or industries such as energy, service, construction, transportation or mobility
  • Experience applying accessibility and inclusive design best practices to research
  • Practical experience with UX analytics, quantitative research methods and statistics
  • Experience working across global markets and distributed teams
  • Fluent in English
  • Eligible to travel internationally as needed

Nice-to-have

  • A blend of enterprise and consumer research expertise
  • Experience mixing qual and quant methods and improvising new methods for nuanced problem spaces
  • Experience applying service design and design thinking practices to engage customers, stakeholders and end-users in greenfield initiatives and legacy product systems
  • Fluent in German, Dutch or French
