Overview of the role

The US Business Manager, reporting directly to the Vice president of US Operations, will be a crucial driver of our expansion efforts in the American market. This multifaceted position will focus on three core areas:

  • Operations, where you will be key to putting in place and sustaining the necessary infrastructure for a dynamic, start-up environment,
  • Talent Partnership, where you will collaborate closely with key stakeholders to attract, develop, and retain top talent,
  • Community Benefits Partnership, where guided by external contracted expertise you will foster positive relationships with local communities to create lasting social and economic benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

Talent Partner:

  • Collaborate with the Vice President of US Operations and HR team to develop a comprehensive talent acquisition and retention strategy.
  • Identify key talent requirements, both technical and leadership roles, and lead the recruitment process to attract exceptional individuals.
  • Coordinate and organise secondments and visitors including schedules, travel, accommodation, presentation packs and general support as required.   
  • Implement effective onboarding and professional development programs to nurture employee growth and career advancement.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, ensuring a supportive and inclusive work environment.

Community Benefits Partner:

  • Via use of external expertise develop, execute and measure a community engagement strategy to establish meaningful relationships with local communities in proximity to our current and future US operations.
  • Identify community needs and opportunities for collaboration to create sustainable social and economic benefits.
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders and government officials to align community initiatives with company goals and values.

Operations & Business Development:

  • Create and sustain effective offices for our current and future US operations, ensuring alignment and collaboration with UK colleagues wherever appropriate,
  • Collaborate with Vice President of US Operations and Business Development team to identify new opportunities, industry trends and competitor activities.
  • Contribute to the development of business proposals and funding applications to support expansion projects.
  • Act as a representative of Tokamak Energy in key industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Substantial experience in partnership development, community engagement, talent acquisition, or a related field within the energy industry.
  • Proven track record in establishing successful partnerships and implementing community-focused initiatives.
  • Experience in talent acquisition, HR, or talent management, with a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, able to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a start-up / smaller organisation with an openness to be hands-on and support with ad-hoc tasks and projects as required.
  • Understanding of the US energy landscape, regulatory environment, and industry players.
