About the company:

Sitetracker is a software company that provides a complete Asset Lifecycle Management platform designed to help organizations plan, build, operate, and maintain critical infrastructure. The platform supports the full lifecycle of physical assets, offering capabilities in project management, financial management, field work management, site and asset management, and reporting and analytics. Sitetracker serves industries including digital infrastructure, renewable energy, EV charging, battery energy storage systems (BESS), utilities, and telecommunications. In the context of sustainability and the energy transition, Sitetracker plays a meaningful role by enabling renewable energy developers and operators to manage the complexity of deploying clean energy infrastructure at scale. By centralizing data, standardizing processes, and optimizing resources across asset lifecycles, the platform helps accelerate the development and operation of solar, wind, EV charging, and other green energy assets, reducing inefficiencies that can delay or increase the cost of clean energy deployment. What makes Sitetracker unique is its vertical focus on asset-centric industries and its ability to bridge the gap between development, construction, and ongoing operations and maintenance within a single platform. Unlike generic project management tools, Sitetracker is purpose-built for organizations managing large portfolios of distributed physical assets, providing a standardized, end-to-end operational approach that improves visibility, financial control, and field execution across mission-critical infrastructure projects.

The Opportunity

Are you passionate about Salesforce, solving complex platform problems, and finding smarter ways to make operational processes faster and more reliable? Sitetracker is looking for a Platform Upgrade Operations Engineer to help transform how we deliver platform upgrades.

Our team owns the end-to-end Sitetracker upgrade process—from readiness and pre-upgrade checks through execution, troubleshooting, testing, and post-upgrade validation. The goal is not simply to execute upgrades successfully, but to continuously make the process more automated, predictable, and scalable.

You will combine strong Salesforce Administration and Configuration knowledge with Copado, Copado Robotic Testing (CRT), scripting, automation, and practical AI capabilities. You will identify manual steps and turn them into automated checks, tests, workflows, and intelligent agents.

You don't need to be a software developer. You do need strong Salesforce knowledge, the ability to read and understand Salesforce code, strong troubleshooting skills, and a mindset of asking: “How can we make this upgrade automatic?”

What You'll Do

As a Platform Upgrade Operations Engineer, you will plan and run multi-week phased rollouts through sandbox, UAT, and Production for enterprise customers. Your success will be measured by rollout predictability, pre/post-upgrade validation rigor, and clean UAT hand-offs rather than net-new builds.

You will methodically plan the phased rollout precisely under a release calendar, validate configurations and permissions before and after, and spot regressions early. You are expected to communicate status crisply to customers and implementation partners (such as TechM), turning every upgrade into a reusable runbook.

The Skills You'll Have

Salesforce Package Upgrade Execution

  • Plan and execute managed-package upgrades across sandbox, UAT, and Production environments.
  • Manage sequenced rollout steps, strict dependencies, and the final production cutover.
  • Own multi-week, multi-phase enterprise upgrades, requiring tight coordination with implementation partners to drive on-time, regression-free deployments.

Environment, Config & Permission Validation

  • Perform rigorous pre/post-upgrade backup comparisons to protect customer trust and prevent Sev-1 incidents, such as permission-set discrepancies.
  • Validate configurations, manage sandbox environments, and execute targeted smoke testing to confirm nothing has regressed during the upgrade.
  • Build and utilize repeatable data, metadata, and backup-comparison methods capable of resolving disputed post-upgrade incidents.

UAT Coordination & Customer-Facing Upgrade Comms

  • Run clean UAT hand-offs, create smoke-test guides, and facilitate go/no-go governance checkpoints.
  • Produce controlled customer-facing upgrade materials, communicating schedule, risks, and status updates directly to enterprise customers and partners.
  • Lead advance-notice processes for production-impacting changes to ensure phased rollouts land smoothly.

Release Management & Salesforce Platform Aptitude

  • Demonstrate strong fluency in release trains, versioning, and dependencies to shorten planning cycles and de-risk cutovers.
  • Apply a deep understanding of Salesforce platform mechanics that directly affect managed-package upgrades.
  • Utilize release-train or DevOps tooling (such as Copado) alongside Salesforce certifications to streamline operations.

Within 90 Days, You'll

  • Understand the Sitetracker upgrade lifecycle and Salesforce platform.
  • Become proficient with the upgrade playbook, Copado, CRT, and existing automation.
  • Execute defined portions of standard upgrades.
  • Identify high-value opportunities for automation and AI.
  • Begin using AI tools as part of your daily technical workflow
  • Within 180 Days, You'll

  • Independently execute standard and moderately complex upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot Salesforce, Sitetracker, configuration, automation, and testing issues.
  • Build or enhance automated pre- and post-upgrade validation.
  • Improve automated regression coverage using CRT or comparable tools.
  • Create reusable scripts and automation that reduce manual effort.
  • Implement practical AI-assisted workflows or agents that improve upgrade operations.
  • Turn recurring upgrade issues into automated checks, tests, or prevention mechanisms.
  • Within 365 Days, You'll

  • Become a trusted technical resource for complex Sitetracker upgrades.
  • Own significant areas of the upgrade automation roadmap.
  • Build and maintain scalable automated pre- and post-upgrade validation.
  • Expand automated regression coverage.
  • Develop reusable automation and AI-assisted workflows that reduce manual intervention.
  • Identify opportunities to make more of the upgrade lifecycle fully automated.
  • Lead improvements that reduce upgrade duration, errors, and customer-impacting issues.
  • Help move Platform Upgrade Operations from a manual execution model to an automated and increasingly intelligent model.
