We are currently seeking a Trade Compliance Manager in Europe (based in The Netherlands) to join our growing Global Trade Compliance (GTC) team . This position requires an experienced professional with good working knowledge and experience in all relevant areas of import and export compliance and shipping processes in Europe. We are looking for an outstanding individual who possesses ambition, integrity, personal accountability, a high level of energy and enthusiasm with a positive attitude, and a passion for import/export compliance and both external and internal customer service. The Role:

  • Be a proactive and influential member of a dynamic and forward-thinking global trade compliance team, reporting into the Sr. Trade Compliance Managerand covering all relevant cross-border shipping compliance activities for shipments into, out of, and within Europe. This role will interface with Lucid's suppliers, customs brokers, Customs Authorities and carriers.
  • Responsible for the review, approval, and maintenance of daily import & export operational transactions for shipments into and out of Europe (EU and non-EU countries).
  • Handle the daily information inquiries from Customs Brokers and other internal and external stakeholders to enable and facilitate the timely and compliant import and export activities (e.g., any required import/export declarations by Customs and other applicable government agencies) in Europe.
  • Be proficient in HS code determination, Country of Origin rules, Preferential Tariff Treatment, Customs Valuation and able to apply for BTIs and rulings where applicable
  • Be able to handle (administrative) appeal procedures independently
  • Assist to develop, implement, monitor, and manage policies, internal controls, procedures, training, audit programs to meet the respective import & export regulations.
  • Assists with proactively coordinating and monitoring the company's compliance with Customs and other applicable government agency laws and regulations.
  • Provide operational oversight and support, including interaction with internal and external stakeholders to obtain and provide the information necessary to properly document Europe export shipments for the timely and compliant movement of goods and materials out of Europe. Where necessary, assist with troubleshooting an export shipment's release at the destination.
  • Assist in compliance for all import & export transactions including monitoring for any applicable export controls and sanctions.
  • Apply for (re)export licenses where applicable
  • Set up of control framework and processes for customs declarations and post entry audits 
  • Collaborate with Senior Trade Compliance Manager on Trade compliance automation initiatives (including testing and implementation)
  • Research, interpret, and ensure compliance with European import & export regulations and provide risk assessments
  • Provide recommendations and implement improvements to import & export activities and procedures.
  • Develop and deliver data and metrics to monitor Trade Compliance operations, compliance, performance and spend.
  • Collect, analyse and evaluate company data and processes to identify risks & opportunities for standardizing, streamlining processes, spend reduction.
  • Provide necessary import & export compliance training to operational personnel. 
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and manage the necessary policies, internal controls, procedures, training, audit programs to ensure the company's compliance with all relevant Trade Compliance regulations.
  • Monitor Lucid’s Customs deferment accounts to make sure payments are monitored and made in time
  • Investigate Lucid’s European environmental tax obligations and set up a compliance system where applicable
  • Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience in a dynamic Global Trade environment. Automotive experience is a major plus.
  • Experience in working in a start-up/scale-up culture
  • Solid working knowledge and expertise in multiple areas of import and export compliance such as determination of country-specific Harmonized Schedule (HS) codes and export control code classifications, Country of Origin determination, Free Trade Agreements, Rules of Origin(Preferential & Non-Preferential), CustomsValuation, etc. 
  • Relevant experience supporting import duty cost savings programs including FTAs and specificcustoms licenses
  • Relevant knowledge in the area of shipping of dangerous goods in Europe or the willingness to become proficient in a short period of time
  • Solid understanding of Incoterms
  • Experience and affinity with environmental taxes
  • Strong Written & Verbal communication skills. Able to communicate, present, etc. to upper levels of management.
  • Experience in SAP ERP and proficiency in Office (Excel, Word etc)
