We are seeking a passionate heat pump technician to join our growing team at Octopus Energy’s heat pump manufacturing facility in Portadown, Northern Ireland.


In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing facility.The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting tests and evaluations on heat pumps to ensure they meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards. Your primary responsibilities will include performing functional tests and providing technical support for the manufacturing team, highlighting and feeding back into production processes to identify and address any deviations or defects. Support engineering team in continuous improvements for product performance.


The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 - 3 years of experience within a similar role in a manufacturing environment working as a test technician.


What you'll do

  • Perform tests and evaluations on heat pumps according to established procedures and standards.
  • Record and analyse data obtained from tests, identifying any deviations or anomalies.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with heat pumps, including electrical, mechanical, and control system components.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to develop testing protocols and procedures.
  • Maintain testing equipment and ensure proper calibration and functionality.
  • Document test results, findings, and recommendations in detailed reports.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other team members as needed.

  • What you'll need

  • 2 - 3 years of progressive experience as a technician
  • Ability to be on-site every day at our Portadown heat pump factory
  • Proven track record of working in cross functional teams 
  • High degree of integrity and a natural sense of responsibility
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills, including being comfortable working with highly technical information
  • Proficiency in using testing equipment and instruments such as data loggers, pressure gauges, and temperature sensors.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify root causes of issues.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to handle changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
