Job Overview: Harbinger is seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager to join our PMO and lead our software development initiatives. In this role, you will work with a highly innovative team developing the core software and controls for a cutting-edge electric stripped chassis for the medium-duty truck market. Reporting to the Head of Engineering Program Management, you will drive the software development lifecycle, coordinate complex software programs, and communicate status and risk across our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Software Program Management:
Own the program management for one or more major software domains, such as Vehicle Controls, Battery Management Systems (BMS), ADAS, or Infotainment.
Develop and maintain integrated software project plans, from feature conception through to validation and OTA deployment.
Collaborate with software engineering, firmware, controls, and validation teams to define scope, track milestones, and balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Cross-Functional Coordination:
Serve as the key liaison between the software development teams and hardware, systems, and vehicle integration teams to ensure tight alignment on dependencies and timelines.
Proactively identify technical and schedule risks, and develop mitigation strategies to address potential integration challenges, resource conflicts, or late-breaking bugs.
Agile & Process Leadership:
Partner with software leads to implement and refine robust agile development processes, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, code reviews, and retrospectives.
Facilitate software architecture reviews, technical deep dives, and ensure adherence to best practices for software quality and functional safety (ISO 26262).
Participate in weekly Product Development Team (PDT) meetings with internal and external stakeholders to report on software progress and resolve blocking issues.
Issue Resolution & Tracking:
Drive the triage and resolution of software bugs and integration issues by generating and managing Jira tickets, ensuring thorough Root Cause Analysis and the implementation of robust corrective actions.
Release & Change Management:
Oversee the software release management process, including version control, branching strategy, and build coordination.
Collaborate with systems and manufacturing teams to manage software version effectivity and coordinate Over-The-Air (OTA) update campaigns.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience:
3-5 years in a technical program management role within a software development environment (automotive software experience is a strong plus).
Demonstrated experience managing the full software development lifecycle.
Startup experience is advantageous.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
Expertise with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) for project planning and issue tracking.
Experience with SmartSheets or MS Project is a plus.
Familiarity with software version control systems like Git.
Domain Knowledge (one or more would be a plus):
Vehicle software architecture, vehicle controls, and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
EV powertrain control software (e.g., motor control, BMS, charging systems).
Embedded systems, automotive ECUs, and software/hardware integration.
Communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Automotive Ethernet.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including perception, sensor fusion, and control algorithms.
Functional safety (ISO 26262) or cybersecurity principles.
Core Competencies:
Strong project management skills from ideation to completion, with a solid understanding of both agile and waterfall methodologies.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to diverse audiences clearly and concisely.
Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Flexibility to contribute beyond primary job responsibilities to support the team and the mission.
