The SDMA team's mission is to construct the Safety Case and validate that our vehicles are safe enough to be deployed for autonomous driving.
As a System Safety Engineer Intern, you may be assigned to one of the following teams:
On the Systems Safety for Operations and Service (SSOS) team, we are seeking a systems engineer candidate with a strong software development background to support safety analysis of live service events or off-vehicle software components and tools. The SSOS team leads the safety and reliable progress evaluation of Zoox operations and service such as TeleOperations, remote operator support tools, and test equipment. They perform safety and progress analysis using methods such as System Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA), requirements definition, and field safety investigations. This role will help initiate process improvements related to how we track our ability to always finish the mission and deliver a satisfied rider safely to their destination.
On the Platform Safety Engineering and Analysis (PSEA) team, we are seeking a systems engineer candidate with a strong data analysis background. In this role, you will work with a cross-functional team to evaluate the autonomous vehicle’s interfaces, as well as its response to various faults. Your work will be highly hands-on and directly contribute to the safe deployment of our novel autonomous vehicle. Your work will involve conducting various types of data analysis, reviewing and developing requirements, and building dashboards.
Compensation:
The monthly salary range for this position is $5,500 to $9,500. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level of education. Additional benefits may include medical insurance, and a housing stipend (relocation assistance will be offered based on eligibility).
