Role Description
The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for establishing and managing the quality and reliability standards of Form products. This person will establish the metrics to be used to measure the quality of Form’s products and be the primary point of contact for resolving quality issues from the field and from manufacturing partners. The role will report to the Manager, New Product Introduction and Supplier Quality, within Form’s Global Supply Chain organization and be highly cross-functional with direct engagement with

Form’s Supplier Quality and NPI team is responsible for critical component development and qualification activities at suppliers.  The job involves communicating well with internal and external teams, traveling to suppliers in different regions, and on-the-spot critical decision making. This role is critical to pushing the limits of current manufacturing processes to achieve scale, reduce defectivity, and enable Form Energy rapid growth.

What You'll Do:

  • Establish incoming/outgoing quality standards and metrics to be utilized by manufacturing partners
  • Work with the NPI team to define and manage quality control and acceptance test proceduresLead failure/root cause analysis efforts employing standard practices (i.e. 8D analysis)
  • Establish quality documentation requirements
  • Manage supplier quality documentation
  • Drive “Zero Defect” mentality within the supply base
  • Monitor and measure supplier performance related to quality nonconformance
  • Assess Supplier’s PFMEA and manufacturing process controls and drive continuous improvement
  • Work cross functionally with the Design and Reliability engineering teams to understand the system level requirements and analyze the component level performance.
  • What You'll Bring:

  • BS in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering/Material Science/Physics or related degree.  Engineering related MS preferred.
  • 5+ years experience in quality, manufacturing, or production process development
  • Practical 6sigma experience and demonstrated application of DMAIC
  • Understands Statistical Process Control, demonstrates experience of enhancing SPC programs and has solid knowledge of statistical analysis
  • Strong knowledge of quality standards, approval processes, and manufacturing/process improvement methodologies
  • Quantitative, analytical, data-driven decision maker
  • Detail oriented and highly organized
  • Challenges assumptions with first-principles mindset
  • Clear, concise communicator for both internal and external audiences, with the ability to be direct while building and maintaining productive relationships
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize efforts, and effectively communicate progress and strategic roadmaps
  • Has experience with NPI activates for high volume manufacturing
  • Understands applications of Cpk, GR&Rs and process qualification methodologies
  • Supplier development and management experience
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Domestic and international travel (expected 30-50% of the time) is required to engage with CMs, and Suppliers, sometimes on short notice
  • Certification on QMS preferred
