Overview of the role
One important part of a Fusion Power Plant is the Fuel Cycle system. The Fuel Cycle system is in simple terms responsible for the fuel storage such as deuterium and tritium, fuel delivery to the fusion reactor, reactor exhaust pumping, fuel reprocessing including hydrogen isotope separation in order to fuel again to the fusion reactor.
The fusion reactor landscape has changed dramatically in recent years with many new experimental reactors arising on the horizon.
This project will have the important mission to capture fuel cycle design points (such as temperatures, pressures, flowrates etc) in an organised Tokamak Energy databank which will function as a library for the first commercial Fusion Power Plant.
One outcome of this project is to highlight technology gaps for a Commercial Power Plant.
You will be part of the Fuel Systems Group at Tokamak Energy.
In this role, you will:
· Perform literature research for experimental fusion reactor design points (worldwide)
· Create format for the databank.
· Design data structures in the TE database.
· Format templates.
· Define requirements and input parameters.
· Participate in internal team and group meetings.
· Write a technical report of the findings in a clear structured way with graphs and overview tables and references.
· Present results in a power point presentation.
Requirements
· Required Technical understanding of process engineering.
· Required: Technical understanding of a Fusion fuel cycle
· Valued: able to work independently and self-motivating
· Valued: Experience with Microsoft package such as Word, Excel etc.
· Valued: Able to effectively use internet search option / platforms.
